Revaluation of Iraqi Dinar Today?
Vanity

Posted on 04/30/2007 7:39:55 AM PDT by 4Freedom

The Rumors have been flying around this morning that there has been a revaluation of the Iraqi Dinar.

I haven't been able to find any official confirmation of a reval, yet.

Has anyone else heard any news along these lines?

Just out of curiosity, how many other members of FR have invested in the Iraqi Dinar?

I had better get out my box of collectors bills, i have several Iraqi bills from the 1970s that might be worth more now...maybe even more so historically too.

My brother, a great guy, gave me a crisp new Iraqi 10,000 Dinar bill a couple years ago when they came out under the new Govt. I keep it on my wall.

Maybe it’ll be worth something. ?

The New Iraqi Dinar would be revaled, but not the old Saddam Dinar I'm afraid.

There are still a ton of those old bills around, too.

I've heard rumors...but people keep saying it's just rumors.

I don't see any trend here whatsoever to support that, but I could be wrong.

Actually, if the bills are from the 70s, they are likley pre-Saddam and may have some collector value.

I have LOTS of Saddam bucks. And $1.2 mil in current dinar...just in case.

Before the Central Bank of Iraq website went down this morning, there was a report of the Dinar being revalued at 19 cents U.S. and then $5.00 U.S..

That would have made your 10,000 Dinar note worth anywhere from $1,900 to $50,000.

I just checked the news wire services, again. No further news, so far.

If something had happened this morning, I'd have expected it to have been reported by now.

Hang in there, though. That 10,000 Dinar note of yours will be worth more soon, if not today.

I have been buying Dinar here and there over the past year.

I was supposed to pick up a couple million more this week.

I could have been more aggressive in my Dinar purchases, but I tried not to spend money that I didn't consider extra or that I couldn't afford to lose.

I could have bought more, but I'll have no regrets, if it revals today.

I just received this by FReepmail.

Iraqi Dinar SafeDinar.com

To our valued customers:

Early this morning the Central Bank of Iraq Website (where we retrieve current exchange rate information) crashed. This crash apparently affected the alert that was sent out to our customers. As far as we can determine, the exchange rate did change this morning from:

1270 Dinars to the Dollar ($787.40 per million Dinar)

To

1269 Dinars to the Dollar ($788.02 per million Dinar)

We apologize for any confusion and inconvenience that this may have caused and we appreciate your continued patronage.

Sincerely,

Bryan Canavan

President

SafeDinar.com

Oh well, there's always tomorrow. ;^)

At least it’s heading in the right direction, albeit extremely slowly.

over at www.betoniraq.com you can buy 1 million dinar for $1060. with a trade value of $788.02 that leaves THEM a profit of $271.98 just for being the middleman.

Your best bet is Chase Manhattan Bank. Their rate is around $860 per million give-or-take and they'll buy them back, too.

The 'dealers' and Ebay resellers are on borrowed time.

As prospective investors discover they can purchase 1 million Dinar at a major U.S. bank and at a $200 savings, they'll see their sales dwindle in time.

i think their business model was first to market. their sales have probably dropped off and the maintenance on a website is minimal if sales do drop in. i’da done it if I’d thought about it. ;o) When we annihilate Iran I’ll sell rials

Thanks to the profit Chase Manhattan has discovered can be made on the sale of the Iraqi Dinar, I believe they’ll be right on top of the Iranian Rial sales, too.

How can you fail with a plan like that?

I wonder, if Chase Manhattan Bank knows how much trouble they're in? LOL!
