FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread 12

Posted on 08/07/2007 7:33:14 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - (very out of date) Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)

I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

Thanks! I wish my rings were as big as yours.

I just have to practice it a few times till I figure out where to hold it.

Good morning. Was not as stormy as predicted overnight, I don’t think. We’ll see about today.

Sorry to hear about the work stress. Getting plenty of rest will help, as will making sure that work related stuff stays at work. Do NOT let yourself even THINK about work when you’re not there. They don’t pay you for that and it’s not worth compromising your health for.

Is the Lyme Disease still aggravating you?

I have another little bit of an advangate too in that I don’t use a jointed bit. That adds a whole ‘nother level of complexity to it. If I need to I can just hold the right side of the bit and completely turn loose of the left and it stays put. Not so with a jointed bit.

Yeah - that might be adding another level of complexity.

I think I’ll replace the top snaps with easier ones and maybe remove the lower ones and see if I can manage that way.

We don’t have paper ballots, we have machines. I checked our NRS and it specifically states no write ins, just none of the above. Hope you have a great day.

Thought this would make a fun picture to post. I'd have liked to get a better angle without all the fence in the way, but if I walked out there Grizzly got up and came too me so I had to take it from the door...but you can see where he has taken to sleeping during the day:) Crazy dog.

Well it’s a pretty comfortable spot except for the horse who might bite him in the butt!

Yeah, the Lyme is still a bother. The biggest issue is arthritis type symptoms. I have it in my hands now, they always bother me now, and probably always will. I’ve always had joint issues with my hips and knees, and the lyme has seemed to really aggravate that. Major bummer, dude. Riding helps, though, and I’ll take any excuse to get on a horse! :-D

Well the funny thing about it is that he doesn’t lay at the bottom of the hay bale which I’ve seen other dogs do...he climbs up it as far as he can get:) Rocky doesn’t seem to mind tho.

Well, we can’t even walk through the paddock with the dogs on a leash without the horses going after them.

It’s funny though, those feral cats go in and out of the barn over the wall to the stalls, and they don’t pay each other any mind at all. I surprised one in the barn the other morning and she jumped up and ran right under the pony to get out.

I guess horses just get use to stuff like that.

I need to try to get another picture to show you all. That one rooster I have has taken to sleeping with Nikki in her crate during the day. I can’t believe she tolerates it, but I’ve seen them in there several times together now. At night he still goes up on the stall wall to roost, but during the day he gets in the crate with her.

Heh... yeah - I'd like to see that.

I just took this picture of the mood on the porch. It's gloomy and dark outside and these cats are NOT amused.

What a cool picture. I’ll bet that Rocky and Grizzly enjoy each other’s company. It’s good to hear from you :)

“...these cats are NOT amused. “

That is very clear in the pictures :)

They’re so mad about the rain. They scratch and nag to get outside and then they just sit on the porch and glower.

And probably expect you to fix it. My Kiki cat was like that - surely it must have been in my power to make life a bit better :)
