FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread 12

Posted on 08/07/2007 7:33:14 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - (very out of date) Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)

I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

Ha! A real “dog in a manger”! Goofy dog! But a smart one too. He knows where the nice dry warm places are. That’s funny about Nikki and the rooster too. I’d love to see a pic of that. I can’t believe she lets him in there with her either. As funny as she was about anybody touching her while we were there, you’d think it would just freak her out. That rooster must be crazy!

Heh... I thought you guys needed rain! No pleasin’ some people.

We had to take Barkley in to the vet this morning when they opened. He woke up bellering every time he moved. It was pitiful. I thought his foot was asleep or something and we tried to get him to walk it off but he didn’t get better so we loaded him up.

Vet said he probably pinched a nerve or pulled a muscle in his neck, and that’s causing it to radiate down his leg and look like it’s the leg that hurts.

It’s a pitiful thing, he bellers if you try to move him.

Maybe it was playing with Cisco, Maybe it was jumping up on the couch... Maybe he just slept on it wrong.

He’s on Morphine and muscle relaxers and a Rimadyl. And he’s on crate rest. If he doesn’t get better by monday she’ll take xrays.

No, that was a comment on what it looked like your cats were thinkin'. It's clear as a bell here and quite nice.

That's strange about Barkley. Those dogs are bound and determined to keep you in the poorhouse I think.

I was just on my way out the door to take a walk. I’ve gotten so out of shape, I can’t hardly make it to the mailbox and back without getting winded:). Back later.

Ah - well if you’re going for a walk, I’ll assume it’s decent weather there anyway. It’s lousy here, no matter how out of shape I am.

Poor guy. Hope the meds and crate rest fix it.

Good morning. Hope you’re feeling much better today. Sunny here and should be in the 50’s I think. Then more snow coming in by Tuesday.

Good morning. Have a great walk. I keep telling myself I need to do that, I just can’t get it done. I even put it off for laundry yesterday and it was a gorgeous day here. Today the slave driver (my son) will be back and it’s going to be putting in flooring all day.

Yeah, it’s pretty nice here, in the 40’s and warming up. Kristy is going to come later this afternoon to ride, and I just may go with her...I’ll saddle Harley and see what his mood is. If he’s OK I’ll ride a bit.

I pulled out all the carpeting and we are putting laminate flooring in the whole house, with the exception of the laundry room. That will be tile. So far, the kitchen, dining room, living room, my office, master bedroom and master bath are done - still have the hall, guest bath, Bob’s office and the guest room to go.

I am really pleased with it - it looks good, feels good to walk on, is easy to keep clean and has really made a difference with sinus and allergy issues. I was horrified at the amount of dirt under the carpet and padding the the vaccumn cleaner couldn’t reach. Anyway, every weekend, we do another room.

I’m planning on putting laminate flooring in at the building.

Which actually is a good opening for...I was wondering if you all would be OK with me getting an area rug for down there with the money 2J is holding. That has always been something I wanted for down there, even when Larry and I planned on moving down there...you know one of those Oriental type ones...I was looking at them the other day, and thought that might be a good thing to get with it...if it was OK with all of you.

I would like to ping everyone and thank whoever sent some, but I don’t know who all did.???

I think a rug is a great idea :) However, whatever you want to do with the money is fine with me - it’s for you with no specific item in mind.

I got the laminate from Lumber Liquidators, who I think are nationwide. It came out to $1.09 per foot and that’s including the foam that goes under it and the tools to install it. It’s incredibly easy to install, however, it takes two people to do it. After speaking with several people who have it, we modified the installation a bit. We are not leaving 1/4 inch around the walls and we are using a brad gun to brad it down every few boards. The brads can be sunk in the lip so that they are covered when the next board is put down. That keeps the floor from walking and seperating.
