We’ve never fed near that much quantity, and they’re fit and not hungry till dinner time. Do you feed about the same portion, by weight or volume, of the homemade as you would have with dry kibble?,,<<<<<<<<<<

rice/meat ratio 2/1, incrase meat only if dog is UNDERWEIGHT.
Perhaps your kibble is more dense than my homemaid, the rice can get fluffy (if not overcooked). We measure by volume, 4-5 cups per day for a 75 lb Shepard and a 65 lb Lab. BTW the olive oil seems to help with coat sheen and “itchies”. Dry skin can be treated by adding egg to the mix. Hope this helps.

It does help, we’ll just have to start somewhere and adjust till we get it right.

I want to do this, at least we might be able to find out if it was the food that was doing it.

High quality premium kibble is far more dense than fresh food or ordinary kibble (much of the weight of fresh food is in water).

It occurred to me (after awhile - sorry) that you might want to try the food we got when Shelley had the itchies. Breeder's Choice AvoDerm It has avocado meal and fish meal in it as well as brewers yeast and vitamins, you can also buy a supplement from the same folks with more vitamins and probiotics in it.

Shelley had a lot of dander, the itchies, and yukky ears -- this food cleared it right up. We asked the vet recently about switching, and her attitude was, "If it ain't broke don't fix it" so we just put Ruby on the same stuff and she loves it (and her coat is simply gorgeous).
