Believed to be in posession of the deputy’s pistol. All FL CCW holders should be aware this guy IS armed. Already facing two life sentences from previous concivtions has driven him to attempted murder of this deputy. VERY dangerous desperate man.

Last possible sighting was in LBTS.

“The Deputy has died.”

This is tragic. I hope this mutant commits suicide when they catch up with him.

Updated “last seen” and now searching address...

Now searching door to door in the 1400 block of South A-1-A, which I believe is a Pompano Beach address.

If you’re in the area, heads up!

A lot of has to do with “one-of-our-own” mentality. However it isn’t restricted to police officers. If a taxi driver is robbed and killed on the job you will see fellow drivers take to the streets demanding justice. If a firefighter dies in a home illegal converted into apts for 20+ individuals, you will see fellow firefighters demand the landlord’s head. Etc.

He is now an ‘alleged’ cop killer.

Does that get him a front row seat on death row in FL?

I believe they said the fallen deputy was 76 years old!

Prayers for his family. The news was saying his sons are both in law enforcement, one current and one retired.

What about innocent people who aren’t doing those jobs who get murdered, or shot? Don’t they deserve the same “anger”?

I think they do

You're right, and most innocent people who get murdered do receive the same outcry from the public. But for the most part, most person's killed are not "innocent."

They run in the circles that violent death is a high risk factor. Their families are just as sad about them being murdered as you or I would be if our brother got killed. But the general public couldn't care less.

A bigger deal is generally made of a cop being killed because he/she represents our efforts at order in society. It says that disorder is winning when someone assaults a police officer and killing one is the hightest symbol of disorder.

It scares most folks because, "if that person would kill a cop then he'd have no problem killing me."

The biggest problem is when a community is in denial about how the evil folks are really there every day and the cops are trying to hold them at bay.

When that happens you end up with "shocking" news stories. Shocking news stories that come one after another but for some reason nobody wants to connect them into a pattern of evil that lives among us. They are "outlyer" events and people tsk tsk the story and move on.

If cops “turned up the notch” everytime we saw mayhem, our dial adjustment knobs would be broken in few days.

What’s so surprising about cops getting more upset when one of their friends gets killed?

It’s no more surprising than me getting more upset if my mom was raped than if I found out your mom was raped. I have no emotional investment in your mother and the reverse is true.

Your asking a bit much for cops to get emotionally invested in a victim they may have never met before, to the point where they feel the same anger and sadness that a relative or friend would feel.
