I’ve been through that circus. They are pretty much impossible to get independently for a pre-constructed laptop, in my experience. It might be doable if you are making a homebrew lappy. However, you definitely know more than me about it in that case! :)

I've actually found a couple cards that are better than the standard junk you find, but I'd still like to know if they're worth the additional cost. If anyone's curious, they are the:

NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GT, and
NVIDIA Quadro NVS 140M.

Way too many letters and numbers for me. :)
