First, I will acknowledge that there will be no National Championship in Division 1A College Football. There will be the winner of the "BCS Championship Game" which determines the "champion" of the two team league formed each year by a convoluted combination of popularity, public relations, and some degree of analysis of the quality of the teams based on their performance during the season.
Having said that, most fans would like to see a playoff, say like the NFL and/or the Division 1AA, Division 2 and Division 3 schools. Keep in mind that the only true NCAA Division 1 College Football Champion lost two games, that would be Appalachian State (13-2).
Also both teams in the 2007 Super Bowl lost 4 games during the regular season and nobody seems to be demanding an asterisk after thier names in the record book.
Of course, I think there will be two 2 loss teams in the BCS Championship game at the end of the day, 12-2 LSU and 11-2 Ohio State Stinking Fruits...if you catch my meaning.
Absolutely right. Before the BCS, each year their was an elected champion of whatever the hell the top level of college football is called. Now there's two teams elected to a BCS National Championship Game. No more elections! The champion of any sports league should in no way be determined by an election. Just as the next President shouldn't be determined by a poker game. Until the NCAA realizes that this is college football, not college student government, there has never been, and never will be, a true National Champion of the top level of college football.
