Eldest grandson raises animals for 4-H. He knows exactly what is going to happen to them when the show is over.
Sure sounds that way to me, awful lot of judging going on.
In the United States alone about 1 billion birds are dangled before being killed EVERY MONTH.
That’s about 5 MILLION each working day.
The Chinese zoos have nothing on us.
Your young ones need to learn how lions hunt? Are they feral? ;^)

Good. I know what will happen to them too and how and why. They will be killed as humanely as possible not ripped apart alive.
Not from me you don't.
I see an awful lot of jumping to conclusions going on.
Kinda’ looked like the national Geographic Channel
What makes you think I have a problem with that? I’ve worked in chicken houses, and never shed a tear for those dumb birds. I don’t think dangling chickens for jollies is a good way to treat those dumb birds. What do you think of chucking coins at turtle heads for luck and amusement?
Freegards
Yes, I do think they need to learn this, it is part of the realities of the wild. A kid in California might be alive if he had learned just how powerful a tiger can be.
Don't get me wrong here, I do not support the Chinese in any form or fashion, but there is a whole host of things we can bash them on and this really isn't one of them.
Err, did you say you particpated in those dangling chickens?
Chuckle.
Hmm.....about those turtles. I really don’t know how they’re slaughterd, but I’ve have to admit that bouncing nickles off their heads probably isn’t part of it.
Got me on that one.
I agree, at worst this is just crude.
However, down the road, our kids are going to be at the business negotiating table the those kids.
Who is going to be able to drive the hardest bargain? The kids raise by a bunch of pansys, or the kids who are raised understanding real life?
I used to have a pet turtle, tortoise actually. When I traveled, he rode on the front seat, right next to the .357. Don't think I ever bounced a nickel off of his head though.
Perhaps you should take in again the opening statements of the article, up to this key sentence:
‘”Oohs” and “aahs” filled the air as the children watched the goat being ripped limb from limb. Some started to clap silently with a look of wonder in their eyes.’
Nice, huh?
I was only trying to make some reasonable discernments between conscious decisions that humans have the power to make and the order in nature which is under no conscious control. Man should certainly be aware of the nature of the wild and rationally put it in its own context. But when man makes choices he shouldn't use the nature of the wild as an excuse for his actions. But I don't mean to imply that man is entirely free of nature and able to act in some completely pure manner. We have to eat, build shelters and defend our families. At our very best we can't do those things without taking life and causing others to suffer both man and beast. But we don't have to make a Roman Circus out of it to live and enjoy life. 4H is nothing like that I think you would agree.
Maybe you and the grandkids can double team that generation in the middle. ; )
They’ve already been brainwashed. They’re clapping at the spectacle.
Too late for “if they had the power”. They don’t care anymore.
After Hillary's coronation.
Some people simply must bring abortion into EVERY discussion, it seems.
I find it so tiresome.
I initially got sick to my stomach after reading this, as I am very empathetic. And, I just finished watching Black Hawk Down, so I am in a very pessimistic mood, but then after reading your post, I wondered why God would allow us to go on living. Maybe He is waiting for us do enlighten them. But then again, ask those who have rooster fights and dog fights here in the US, if they need enlightening. No wonder the dead standing before God’s throne ask Him, “How long?”
FYI Chinese coins are surprisingly light, much lighter than nickels due to a different metal content. The pennies are made out of aluminum and higher denomination coins are brass. As I understand it, you aren’t supposed to throw coins at turtle’s heads, but rather throw and balance them on their shells. It’s considered good luck, like throwing coins in a pond.
Consider for a minute the poultry industry. Millions of chickens are kept immobile in tiny pens their entire lives and force fed and injected with a slew of anti-biotics and drug cocktails and then non-chalantly slaughtered via mechanized butchering devices that can probably decapitate hundreds of birds a minute. Not exactly club med but some people seem to get their panties in a wad because someone threw a live chicken in a lion pen and they consider that cruel. It’s probably not very nice to tease the poor lions so before feeding them, but to whine about it is pretty ridiculous. It’s generally true that Americans are incredibly hypocritical about what they eat, preferring their food to generally not resemble food at all, or at least to not resemble what it came from.
