Surely you don't think a University can run without a much more in depth legal department? Our legal system is not based on the Ten Commandments and it would be impossible for a business of any sort not to have much more detailed legal requirements than that.

if this is the worst thing to happen at UD we will still count ourselves lucky that she was able to attend such an authentically Catholic university. this is clearly not on a par with Georgetown University hosting the Vagina Monologues.

OMG, I was reading about the woman who wrote the Vagina Monologues - she originally had a rape scene in there between a young girl and an older lesbian, the girl later said it was good rape. Holy crap, that is disgusting.

I am not stating that the university is bad, or even the president.....I am stating that this situation was handled badly and turned out worse. There may have been no winning position for him to take, but by the standards the Lord has placed in my heart, he has soiled his soul.

So you didn't tell your kids not to drink and drive? Didn't tell them to beware of strangers luring them into cars? Didn't tell them that predators might phone or email so they needed to beware of that sort of danger?

I'm being facetious to show that the Ten Commandments are a great basis for our lives, but don't cover everything that can happen to us, just as they couldn't possibly cover every issue that might affect a University.

ah, I am not judging the placement of his soul for eternity.......we both know that is a sin. I am attempting to judge the actions involved.....as we are all works in progress, only the Lord knows the state of our souls.

did you see Ray Nagin state he was a vagina friendly mayor, or was it that NO is vagina friendly? i laughed my butt off. xshub was in NO last week to give a speech, and he said that the city is absolutely SCARY now. he talked to the cab driver who took him to the airport and the guy said he doesn’t pick up any fares that are not coming directly out of a hotel. there was a murder in the French Quarter a week or so ago! he said that there are not many people on the streets and that it is disquieting.

i honestly don’t think it will come back to what it was. he walked around the Riverwalk thing which is an indoor mall type place, and said half the stores were either closed, as in out of business, or just not open, and it was only 8pm. We were there when SU was in the final four several years back prior to katrina and i doubt we will have any reason to return there.

well, the leadership of nagin is not going to inspire many to invest money into the place.....I never got to go there and I always wanted too, no more though.

the Lord sent us Jesus to clarify it all......and yet we still sin. the Ten Commandments are a good start.....and they do cover it all.

example: Fourth commandment....Honor your father and your mother -- meaning that to follow all rules your parents set up for your safety is all part of honoring them.

another example - Fifth Commandment: Thou shalt not steal -- should be sufficient to tell someone they have no right to steal a painting.

So which Commandment covered the University in this art show?

You mentioned the Fourth Commandment(it is actually the Fifth in my denomination) as covering everything a parent says to a child. You actually backed up my argument that laws or rules have to be more specific than the Ten Commandments. The parents would have to be much more specific in detailing rules for children, just as the school would need more specific rules for dealing with modern life.

#8, you shalt not bear false witness against your neighbor........leaving that up in a Catholic institution is bearing false witness against the mother of God. She was not an exotic dancer with $ stuffed in her g-string. was the image sexual? if so add in thou shalt not covet your neighbor’s wife (#9)...or you shalt not commit adultery (porn) (#6).....debate it all you want....there is a basis for it all in the ten commandments was what I said and I stand by that.

Again Ti, while you and I can link most actions in life to one of the Commandments, a business can not use such broad ideals in a court of law. You are silly to even suggest an attorney represent a school or business by using the Ten Commandments in place of specific case law.
