The most expensive neighborhood in New Orleans was destroyed. In Old Metairie, around the New Orleans and Metairie Country Clubs, some of the most beautiful homes were destroyed. My closest friend lived in a home that was built by Frank Lloyd Wright, had 9 feet of water in it and had to be destroyed. Another friend’s house was right by the 17th Street canal breach and was destroyed. He moved his family to Destin for a year. The home I grew up on that was on the levee of Lake Pontchartrain was not destroyed but was looted by some fine democrats. I had many friends who lost their homes but guess what, they went to work rebuilding and cleaning up the mess that was left. All the world saw though was the gimme gimme gimme bullshit you owe me group that was too stupid to leave because we are too stupid and lazy.
