Newly formed Tropical Storm Dolly over the NW Caribbean Sea near 18.4N 84.2W. 1008 MB at 11AM this morning. Max sustained winds 40KT, gusts 50KT, moving NW at 15KT.
Thanks. The lights came on about an hour ago. Very little water pressure yet. Hard to see at night but I fared better than a lot of others.

She came on shore at 2:00ish and the eye was over Raymondville at 8:00ish Raymondville isn’t that far from the coast.

Glad your lights are back on, CindyDawg. Weather channel reported downtown in a town I don’t remember it’s name - flooded bigtime. Are you on the outskirts of a town - in rural Texas? High ground, I hope?
Thoughts and prayers to all in Dolly’s path. LIved through heavy rain producers Hurricanes Fran and Floyd some years ago. Lost 1 tree in each. Mega tree/home destruction from Fran. Those winds about drove me crazeee. So I feel for all who are experiencing the effects of this storm.
Hope some of the benefit *needed rain...came but know the destruction is there too.

Fran alumnus here too. Taught me a lot about hurricane preparation, and what ‘possums do when trees rest on the rafters too long.
I sure hope we don’t get one like this (or worse) in Florida. Looks quite nasty.

LOL! Hubby said the wind howled here until 5 AM. I turned on the fan last night and didn't hear a thing all night.

...Dolly producing heavy rains over deep south Texas...
a Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect along the Texas coast
from Brownsville to Port Aransas. This warning will likely be
discontinued later this morning.
For storm information specific to your area...including possible
inland watches and warnings...please monitor products issued
by your local weather office.
At 700 am CDT...1200z...the center of Tropical Storm Dolly was
located inland Texas near latitude 27.2 north...longitude 98.9 west
or about 50 miles...80 km...east-southeast of Laredo.
Dolly is moving toward the west-northwest near 7 mph...11 km/hr. A
continued motion toward the west-northwest is expected during the
next day or so...with a slight increase in forward speed until the
system dissipates on Friday.
Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 50 mph...80 km/hr...
with higher gusts. Dolly is expected to weaken as it moves farther
inland...and it is expected to become a tropical depression later
today.
Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 85 miles...140 km
from the center.
Estimated minimum central pressure is 995 mb...29.38 inches.
Dolly is expected to produce total rainfall accumulations of 8 to 12
inches...with isolated amounts of 20 inches...over portions of
south Texas and northeastern Mexico. These rains are very likely to
cause widespread flooding.
Repeating the 700 am CDT position...27.2 N...98.9 W. Movement
toward...west-northwest near 7 mph. Maximum sustained winds...50
mph. Minimum central pressure...995 mb.
The next advisory will be issued by the National Hurricane Center at
1000 am CDT.

Morning yall. Looks like Harlingen and 83 towns flooded big time. I’m closest to the water but had less damage than my kids who live in West Brownsville. Yuk. What a mess outside. Just waiting for the Texas squeeters now:’)

Eeesh...just read about the 17 year old boy who was blown from a 7th story balcony on SPI. He couldn't be transported during the storm.

Poor kid. There was no way they could have flown him out though. Did you see the part about smugglers trying to get drugs thru? Not to hijack the thread but the border patrol has got to operate as usual. I could see situations like this used by terrorists.
We have a 100% chance of rain today but so far it’s been dry. Just a little breezy. We have some loose shingles and my fruit trees and big plants took a beating. The fence is up but leaning. Not much damage. 10-20 miles north is a different story though.
