No thanks. Had to go around some small lakes on the way to work this morning and it’s rained since then. Think the corn is all in, but it needs to dry up to pick cotton.

Power is back up! Rejoice Evermore!
Yoohoo! Electricity is a wonderful thing, isn’t it?
The first thing I did when the power came back on was get a hot shower. It was much nicer than the cold shower this morning. Pebcak, good to see you and hope you get power back soon.
It was the same story here, standing on the porch watching the trees dance and fall down. Sometimes it was just too rough to venture outside. As I was counting the trees going down hubby was adding up the hours of work ahead. I stopped counting at 13 trees. Some are uprooted and others are broken off above ground. I’ve talked with several friends on the east side of Harlingen and they are all without power. I heard the electric poles are down on a stretch of Morgan Blvd. The west side of town seems to be doing better with a few businesses open. All the businesses are packed with lines of traffic.
There doesn’t seem to be many flooding or pomding problems on the roadways here. Although there is some standing water in low lying areas.
Cell phone service is still sporadic, but getting better. I can get service outside and sometimes inside. Had to bring my laptop outside to get online. The mesquitos are coming out so it’s time for me to go inside.

Looks like a big pocket of dry air moving westward.
It’s a BIG eye!
It could have been much worse. By striking north of Brownsville instead of just south of the Mexican border, the damage, and certainly the casualty toll, was much reduced.
This is especially true with the final strengthening into the unexpected Category 2 storm.
The rush of water should make crossing the Rio Grande a tad more difficult than usual.
It wasn’t all that long ago that the Rio Grande didn’t quite make it all the way to the ocean. Flushing it out is probably a good thing.
Up towards Big Bend it is pretty. Here, it’s just a mud hole.
