Anyone know how Biden got out of the draft during the Vietnam War?
Did your dad do that? If he didn't then what are you worried about?
OK, his post wasn't all that clear to you. I saw it as wondering if there was any ammo to use against Biden, just as the Dems and the media (redundant, I know) went after Bush over VietNam.
It sure didn't have anything to do with your dad, or anyone else who was of age and didn't go to Nam.
Now most people (at least here on FR!) would not assume that just because someone didn't go to Nam, or even serve, dodged the draft. I sure don't. Is that what you got from the post?
I still think the post was asking if there was anything worth looking into to use against the BO/Biden ticket.
No.
If he didn't have to go, there was nothing for him to dodge. My uncle was draft age, too. His draft lottery number never came up, so he didn't go. He didn't "dodge" anything, so I suspect, neither did your dad!
Term limits! No one should be in Congress as long as some of these lazy *sses (on both sides of the aisle). Shouldn't they GO HOME and actually get a REAL JOB?!
That's not including the thousands of family members who are lobbyists and entrenched in Washington for life. They act as if it's a family business to be passed on to the next member of the family.
Was your dad nominted to be VP of the United States?
I was born i 40. Not too old.
I would love to see a campaign where only political policy is debated, no some bodys historical draft status, or their birth certificate, or their age, or their marital status defines their qualifications.
I loved the Saddleback Mountain format of debater, where each person was questioned identically. It really showed weaknesses and strengths, in the POLITICAL arena (and, by the way, a mistake the Obama camp will not make again).
Bottom line, the premise of this thread, trying to dig up dirt, makes me mad....

I'm guessin' all this was a bit before your time though, so your ignorance of the true nature of the times is understandable.
Not that this is necessarily un-American or fatal to a campaign, but it does give great cachet to Sen. McCain, a military guy, a POW, tortured and wounded, a veteran with parts of the body that still don't work.
As candidates, the Dims have two wealthy, so-called elites who want to play at being commanders-in-chief of our precious troops.....similar to one of the mad Russian tsars of yesteryear who played with elaborate toy tin soldiers every day even as an adult.....moving them around in complicated battle positions on the floor to make himself feel powerful.

Agreed...I think there should be a two term limit for any given person at the local, state, and national level (regardless of lateral moves, like senate—>rep—>governor, and regardless of whether they’re consecutive or not).
Even then, that would allow a max of 24 years of elected office which seems like way too much, but at least it would limit political “dynasties” to 8 years screwing up your state, and 8 more screwing up the country.
I dodged the draft: I enlisted (the Feds are sooooo easy to outsmart). My draft number was 307.
Cheers!
Vietnam was not one of those evolutions most folks stood in line to participate in.
I did my time there — in spades; but, within weeks, on my first tour, it became very clear to me that we were involved in a very protracted, essentially no-win element of the cold-war — with very definitive parameters for the conflict. The cards had to be played out within those constraints, right to the tragic conclusion, in 1975, over two decades following the French collapse at Din Bin Phu. game. The superpower nuclear game precluded anything more (or less). In my view, our SEA die was cast in the spring of 1954, with the end of the French disgraceful role in Indo-China.
The fact that a citizen of our Republic did NOT play in that sandbox says nothing to me about his (or her) love of country. Some of my best friends inside as well as outside the Naval Service abhorred the conflict.
I might suggest you read a little history before you play the Viet Nam card. *S*
Kind regards.
No, you are wrong, you did not “dodge” anything. You acted honorably.
Failed physical didn’t he?.....
His son Beau is slated for deployment to Iraq this fall with a Nat’l Guard unit I believe.
Biden - since 1972
“Who knew that the agent of change has been hiding in the US Senate for 36 yrs.?”
You don’t know what you’re talking about!
Have a nice day.
No, YOU do not know what YOU are talking about. Have a shitty day.
I never got drafted during the Vietnam war since I enlisted.
Then you should know how the system worked, so why did you imply that Biden was a draft dodger?
