My understanding is that the citizens of Alaska refer to their citizenry as either native (Eskimo) or non0-native.....the Eskimo designator isn’t used?
They just don’t make an issue of race. The only prejudice I ever witnessed was against people like me, that were from the lower 48 and didn’t intend to stay. Sometimes Eskimo was referred to as “Skeemo” but not as a slur.
The natives are great people, IMHO. They probably had to be to survive in that environment. Wonderful sense of humor. The native women are wondeful, I wish I’d married one. However and this is a fact, they can’t hold any liquor at all. That is why to this day many of the little towns are dry.
