I’m not enough of a power broker to even know what linkedIn is. :~)
I’ve settled down a little about FB. I understand how it works a little better.
It’s a little overwhelming in it’s ‘flair’, but it’s not as ‘open’ as I feared.

Actually though, nothing is sacred anymore. Huffington Post went through the election contribution records, you know, the ones that Americans filled out, and posted names, party affiliation, candidate, amount and a corresponding map to get to that house. Lovely.

Yeah, I have no interest in a Facebook account either. I'm teetering on the edge of going into "hunker down" mode, when it comes to my online presence.
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
And they have no “lurk mode” so I could check it out before creating an account.

I lurked on FR for years before finally making an account.

Me too...only maybe not for years. At least a few months.

It must be nice to be named “John Smith” these days.

I think I found FR during or shortly after the Impeachment. I know I was using FR to get most of my news by the time of 9/11.
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
IIRC, I started lurking during the Monica Lewinsky - ahem - affair.

Wow, I wasn’t here until the hanging chad business. I lurked for a while before signing up too.

Two computer related questions:
1) A couple of weeks ago, Firefox started acting strangely and on certain sites (including Google) would not allow me to click on anything. Thoughts?
So, I “upgraded” to Explorer 8. It’s working mostly okay, once I got rid of the malware that attacked my PC. But certain images won’t show. Usually either from flash applications or the image holders for youtube, etc. But only on certain site, like the blog. Youtube works okay.
I figure this on is some simple setting that I can’t figure out yet. Thoughts?

We found FreeRepublic during the election fiasco between Bush and Gore. I signed up a year or so before OB; he signed up to talk about the Lord of the Rings movies :)
