Just a question out of my own curiosity. Has anyone here ever destroyed a political sign of an opponent of someone you support?
This stuff is just plain vile.
OTOH...heheh. After the 2000 election I emplaced a lot of “sore loserman” upgrades for folks in december and january. Usually just one sign in front of the other...
Also a buddy put kerry/edwards and move-on stickers on all 4 of his cars...after a couple of years of his son parking in front of my driveway I replaced the stickers with Ron Paul enhancements...took them a few weeks to notice - his son came over and parked in front of my drive as usual, my friend came over and pulled in behind the son’s car in a convertible...he started yelling at the boy and I snuck around behind and did the same thing to the convertible...heheh.
Never.
I must say that I have an urge to kick over an Obama sign when I'm walking the dog but I would never do that. Even though my own yard sign has been kicked over or thrown into the woods twice this year already.
I'm not a big yard sign guy myself but I go out of my way to get one if my neighbors get one. In the 1996 election my next door neighbor got a Clinton/Gore sign and I just had to get a Dole/Kemp sign to counter even though I thought that the Dole/Kemp ticket was one of the worst tickets in GOP history and I knew they were going to lose. I put it at the edge of my yard as close as I could get it to the Clinton/Gore sign in the other yard and it was either kicked or knocked over pretty much every night but I kept getting out there in the morning to prop it back up.
Things got quiet in my neighborhood after that for a few election cycles. Then this year, the Obama signs started growing like weeds so I now have two McCain/Palin signs on either side of my yard, and again, I have to deal with them getting knocked over but not as much as in 1996. Also, there are other McCain/Palin signs sprouting up around the area but no bumper stickers as of yet.
I did flip the bird to a Wellstone supporter one time. It was right after the Wellstone memorial/rave party. I was driving through downtown Minneapolis and saw this pathetic looking simpering doofus clutching onto a Wellstone sign. I slowed down and majestically flipped him the bird. Didn't feel guilty about it then and I don't feel guilty about it now.
