Finland has rated the DVD release of the much-loved children's television series "Little House on the Prairie" suitable for adult viewing only.
To save money, Universal Pictures decided not to submit the series to state inspection, the company's Finland marketing manager Meri Suomela told Reuters on Wednesday.

"Such unchecked material should not be shown to children publicly," he added.

Not that I watch porn.
If it submitted to the screening, (with Europe’s newer PC “sensibilities”) .. it would probably be BANNED completely.

I recall seeing her repeatedly on some of the TV news shows last year.
Now that’s the kind of government protection we need here, and I surely hope President-elect Obama will provide it for us. Maybe he could even make it a 100 day priority item.

It’s not like it would matter in America. The ALA (American Library Ass.) promotes giving access to ALL library materials to anyone (no concept of “age appropriate materials”) and they don’t “censor” so they won’t refuse to stock materials that are not acceptable to the whole family.

Good grief, do you really need to be told?
This may be true....but when my mother was a librarian she took pains to be sure that the internet was used appropriately. In her particular case, the library's PCs were located next to the children's section. When various assorted pervs came in and tried to look at porn on them, she made sure that they stopped. Shame is a good thing.
And....we're not talking about looking at nude Renaissance paintings. We're talking hardcore porn, here. Some people have no sense (or decorum) whatsoever.
Over the course of a dozen years or so, she only had one patron get mouthy. And fortunately, the local police chief was in the library at the time. "Uh-huh. So, sir, Where in the constitution does it say you can sit in the children's section and look at porn?" I'd have loved to have been a fly on the wall for that conversation. :-)
