NASCAR Driver Jeff Gordon Parks Private Jet in Favor Of Savings
Gordon, who like most NASCAR drivers owns his own airplane, has taken to flying commercial this off-season and estimates hes saved more than $100,000 by using US Airways.
Ive always hated spending money on private planes and travelling, thats why Ive taken commercial flights and am going to take more of them this year, Gordon said Wednesday during a media visit at Hendrick Motorsports. You are going to see me on your flight going to some races this year.
Gordon, who spends a good amount of time at his New York City residence, travelled the same LaGuardia Airport to Charlotte route one day before a USAir flight made an emergency landing in the Hudson River.
“Scott Speed is not one of those drivers that people talk about when they complain that NASCAR drivers are too politically correct and don’t say what they really think. Speed has no such restraint.
On Wednesday he was asked about a theme that has come up many times this week during the NASCAR Sprint Media Tour — the need for drivers to do more for fans to encourage greater attendance at tracks.
Speed is not on board that train.
“American fans are obnoxious,” he said. “It’s ridiculous to get a picture or an autograph. Everywhere else in the world there’s just more respect. We’d get off the airplane in Tokyo and there’d be people everywhere. The whole airport would be shut down but not one would ask you for a picture.

Rainy day here, I was wondering what I was going to do with myself......
Problem solved!
Hey Mac ~ Rain, what’s that? :D
Our weather report just said that we may not get rain until next Fall or later because of La Nina.
Jeff Gordon = GLobull Warming Kool Aid Drinker???
Seriesly, I am losing my patience with the man...
I just may have to break out my Buckshot Jones gear...
the OTHER think bumming me out is:
RESTRICTIONS ON PRACTICE at the tracks...Just how the heck are the rookies going to learn? This POSCOT is still a problem and ALL the drivers need practice time to get used to the cars and tires.
So, what we have here is a failure to run enough laps and they will be crashing out in the first 20 laps...JMHO!!!
That is all, please return to your regularly scheduled Friday Night!
Snowmobiling......I want to see the decals...
I have pics of the snowmobile trip up thread.......they painted his with Jr Motorsports. I can’t remember if there were decals.
I totally agree with the lack of testing being a problem. Particularly since many teams have changed owners, drivers, sponsors etc. and yes the POSCOT still is a problem. Only a few get to do testing for tires. Did you see up thread a bit Biffle went 219 at a track where they can practice?
Thanks for the bump.
Rain? We have forgotten what it looks like. Sil just dug a pond behind their new house and is going to talk to a water well guy. He’s given up on rain.
Al Gore must be right!
Crap....the qualifying race is not on for another two hours...
Smoke is at the Barret Jackson auction.........
I just saw on Twitter that the Toyota practice was canceled because of rain - there may be no qualifying. I’m not sure how long the rain is expected to last.
