Hmmm..., what are the sizes of the nuclear weapons that Al Qaida has already planted in the U.S.??

Good afternoon. To your first question, "What have you bagged with it?" The answer is, nothing. Many states, FL and VA come to mind (because I hunt them often), do not allow .223 for game.

To your second question, "What are your thoughts?" Best to use that caliber for varmints and humans (sometimes the difference can be blurred).

I’m good with a hit on Detroit (if the wind is blowing east)

Detroit already looks like it's been nuked.

I love saying “Frisco” too. Just using the word drives those pretentious snobs over the edge.

The only "Frisco" I know of is about 20 miles north of downtown Dallas.

I’m about 70 miles west of Detroit. I wouldn’t miss much if everything 10 miles east of here were to disappear

I took out Boston, and I got to Nuke Cambridge. Woo-hoo! Moonbats, beware! Fortunately, I am just out of the damage zone except for the Tsar Bomba and the Asteroid impact.

I would survive an Atlanta attack (my nearest large city) and I don’t know if that is a good thing. The fall out would probably be worse than the bomb.

.308 would be great for most game hunting.

.308 uppers are common. .308 has similar charcteristics as 30-06, though a flatter trajectory.

I used to tell my friends that Nukes are not as powerful as people think. I used the example that if downtown Seattle was nuked with a “Little Boy” sized bomb, the U-district would not be affected. I used this thing and it showed the circle of damage even a little smaller than I predicted.

‘Course, when I used the B61, it was also the damage I always used to think all nukes would cause. Even the fairly fringe suburbs were not spared.

Better to have a concrete basement safe room to survive a blast.

We’re outside the NYC blast zone for all but the big momma; my concern is the EMP effect and how long power will be out in our region. Also, wind direction is typically from the northeast, taking the fallout over the Atlantic, but that can shift in any direction at any time.

The asteroid impact toasts most of the world anyway, immediately or over time; no real way to prepare for that.

The other one for the east coast to consider is the mega tsunami that will be created when that big slice of La Palma in the Canary Islands cascades into the sea. We are ten blocks from the beach and a mere 30-40 footer would do us in.

"what do each of the different rings around ground represent?"

It says, "thermal damage," so that would be different general extent of damage for each distance range from a heat wave.

Well, as far as military bases go, I’m hundreds of miles away from the nearest active one, so I’d only have to worry if the terrorists are dumb enough to go after closed-down ones with anything bigger than 1 megaton.

Taking the nearest ‘terrorist target’ with a high civilian population into account, I’d only be outside the blast radius if it was less than 25 kt and I was at home or school. However, if I’m at work... well, I work at the biggest and most high-profile place within probably hundreds of miles, so it would likely be ground zero. But, I don’t really care, cause there’s all kinds of other bad things that might happen or worse ways I could die while working there that are all substantially more likely.
