The wild green parrots of Los Angeles are visiting my neighborhood lately. I stopped to watch a flock that landed yesterday in a magnolia tree. A lady who was walking her chee-wa told me they became wild after the Bel-Air fire in 1961. They are not native and were being kept in a private zoo there, escaped, multiplied and became “naturalized” over the years.

That is really interesting. I had never heard of the wild parrots in LA. How many would you say were in the flock you watched yesterday? Are they green all over, or do they have other parrot colors on them?

The parrots are BRIGHT solid-green and medium sized, Mama Bear. I’d say there were about 20 in that flock, but I could be thinking a high number because of all the sqwacking(?)* noise they make, lol.

*somebody spell this for me please:-)
