A well trained archer with modern broadheads is an underestimated deadly weapon. The modern compound bow with release, range finder and pins is a deadly weapon out to 100 yards. My son shoots from the porch all summer and puts his entire quiver inside a small pie plate at 100 yards.
Given a choice, one might prefer to be shot with a bullet rather than with a broadhead. The latter will cut more than a bullet, and it's hard to remove.
I like a crossbow. It can be cocked before hand and has a safety.
