Thanks Dave, nice write up. I have no where near your experience with scotch and you have provided a nice summary. I was trying to remember Craggenmore and Glenmoragie; I like them both. I'll have to try Bowmore.

I know what you mean about Glenfiddich - it was one of the first I tried, and will do in a bar since it is usually as good as they have, but after I started trying the better stuff it comes up lacking. I get a martini instead when I am away from home.

Can you provide your opinion of Oban? I would rather my son spend well if he is going to buy me a bottle. Thanks

Oban is a very nice malt. No complaints whatsoever about Oban. A very attractive package, too.

There are many more malts than the ones I’ve listed - there are perhaps a dozen malts that we cannot get here in the US in any other way than joining the Malt Whisky Society.

If there’s anything I can help with about malts, please just ask. I’m not an expert, and I just know what I like, but there is no spirit I like more than single malt. I figure there’s no point in going through life drinking crappy spirits, so I’ll drink less but buy high quality stuff. There’s also no point in using slow computers, sleeping with cranky women or owning unreliable cars or inaccurate rifles. ;-)
