I would say that he had good reason to believe he could have been harmed. I really believe that we should have a law, that regardless of actions of the owner that if you are in the process of committing a crime that all you can file are criminal charges...never civil.

That said, the rancher should sue the backers here for damages from the charges he was cleared on.

Read the article in post 57. I don’t think he had a reasonable fear for his life as the only armed person with a big attack dog in the confrontation. This guy had been asking for legal trouble for quite some time. Thank goodness the jury could see past the B.S. portions of the lawsuit and focused on just the law. I think this case is a win-win in that the goofy civil right crap of the illegals was thrown out, but the RKBA was not undermined by disregarding the law on the appropriate use of force.
