Ann Coulter has gone too far...
anncoulter.com 2/25/2009 column ^

Posted on 03/02/2009 9:27:04 PM PST by publius_in_abq

Ann Coulter has always been a valiant fighter in the intellectual battle for conservatism. I even have a couple of her books, but she has gone too far this time. She's irritated me for a while now (didn't buy the last 2 books) and it has finally reached a tipping point:

1. It is one thing to criticize the partisanship and naive policy positions of the Jersey Girls, but it is another thing to start saying disparaging things about their husbands possibly leaving those "harpies".

2. It is one thing to criticize John Edwards for hypocrisy and being an intellectual lightweight, but it is another thing to use a sexual slur against him.

The latest slur against Bobbie Jindal is the final straw, and unfortunately it took her slandering a conservative for me to lose my patience with her. If this was an attempt at making fun of absurdity by being abdsurd (i.e. the liberal slurs against Jindal made by Helen Thomas, Malloy, etc.) then she needs to go on record and explain as such. As I read her column, this was just a slur against him for saying a few nice words about the POTUS. It was not a great speech in terms of delivery or clarity, but was her comment about being in "Slumdog Millionaire" really called for? I've had enough of this from her...she is constantly belligerent with people for no reason (O'Reilly who is not a great conservative, but why she'd want to alienate a center-right person of such power and influence is beyond me). And I'm not sure what she was referring to in her CPAC speech about Afghanistan being a quagmire. She is on the verge of becoming a liability to us now, and undermining her own intellectual brilliance (e.g. the illegitimacy portion of her recent book) with needless bombast. Maybe I'm just over-reacting because I am a Jindal fan...what does everyone else think? I'm frustrated...

but she doesn't lie.

Totally agree! I'm sure she makes mistakes once in awhile, like perhaps being confronted with some obscure ten-year old quote, and answering "I never said that" instead of the correct answer of, "I don't remember saying that". This kind of mistake is instantly pounced on as "a blatant lie" by ACDSers, when it is nothing of the sort.

The MSM also did this a lot with Palin last Fall.

I don’t like no bony women. Their elbows and knees hurt me. I like Ann, she just needs a little cushion. Looks kinda poorly to me, makes me want to feed her.

How do you like these bones?

Really? You must have watched a completely different interview than I did.

I seem to remember Ann Coulter being speechless when Huckabee brought up the fact her hero Duncan Hunter endorsed HIM, not Romney. Her lemmings get awfully quiet when that point is brought up as well. Cat got your tongue, huh? Why would Duncan Hunter do that if he's such a great Reaganesque conservative? I mean if Huckabee is such an evil nanny stater socialist Elmer Gantry/Jimmy Carter/Spawn of Satan, WHY would Hunter sign on to that? Hunter MUST be a fan of "socialism" if what you say is true about Huckabee.

Do you support Tim Geither or Eric Holder? How about the wall street bailout and economic stimlus bill? Because "socialist" Huckabee was loudly and vocally against ALL those things. Why would Huckabee OPPOSE them if he's a nanny-stater socialist? Perhaps Obama is the "true conservative" by your logic. After all, the "socialist" Huckabee is dead set against what Obama is doing.

Give it up, you Coulter cultists are as bad as the Moore-ons. What an embarrassment to conservativism. Go join your hero Ann Coulter at the latest Mitt Romney & Spencer Abraham rallies. "Ture conservative" Ann supporters them, so go follow your bile-spewing RINO off the cliff.

Jeez... over 200 posts and I’m just seeing this.

Just for the record.....

Ann is one of the few people in America with the guts to call it like it is. She is the metaphoric Paul Revere of our day. Her antagonistic style is one of the few sabers sharp enough to cut through the chain mail curtain that is the liberal propaganda machine and the elite media treason.

Whatever resistance group she creates or is associated with I want to be a part of. Our country is being savaged and raped...and you who whine about Ann Coulter being hurtful demagogue are a butch of clueless pussies. Piss off!

Thank you.

I’m at the point where I want to kick somebody’s ass...to stop the assault on my family and my country...and there is no acceptable way of doing that in a way that would produce a positive out come...if not for me, at least for my beloved family and country.

Yet.

Like Gantry the Huckster fools a lot of people. He obviously fooled Hunter. Ann knows this. The clue to Huckabee's deceptions in that interview, and I viewed it three times, was Ann pointing out how the uberliberal Frank Rich praised him. That only happens when a "conservative" politician betrays his principles and/or is a lying suckup.

The other clue is how Huckabee kept saying "I want to clarify". Which is code for "I want to weasel out of my previous lies". To which Ann simply smiled.

For us who know that Huckabee is an Elmer Gantry and Ann the Gold Standard in truth telling it was easy to pick up the clues. But a lot of Republicans were fooled.

who ya gonna call when ya wanna bust a liberal?

.....

HAR! Like I predicted! Just as with the dual certainty of death & taxes, there is a dual certainty associated with every long-running Ann Coulter thread:
  1. There will be plenty of photos.
  2. Eventually some RINO girlyboys or boylygirls will march over to Kos's or DU's "I-Hate-Ann Talking Points Page, last revised 3/3/09" and copy/paste over here the same tired list of quotes which, if sufficiently taken out of context, can make Ann look bad.

And you forgot the third certainty of someone suggesting that Ann eat a sandwich or hamburger and get some meat on her bones.

"we should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity" .... I forgot about that one. Theres no defending that. (Im sure its been defended by some though,....

Oh yes it can be defended! When a quote is deliberately removed from its context because the quoter knows that the context throws an entirely different light on it than if the quote stood alone, that person is a liar. Lies by omission are still lies.

Suppose one of the two of you states, "Hitler said all the Jews must die!" and I decide to remove the first two words of your quote and attribute the rest to you, far and wide, hounding you into every thread and every forum you visit, to throw this "accurate quote" of yours in your face again and again and again ...... would you then finally understand the power of the misuse of context?

I'll assume you two are merely repeating lies of omission, and not knowingly lying, because I'm a firm believer in: "Never assume malice, when an explanation of 'ignorance' will suffice".

Here is the surrounding context of Ann's most-quoted quote, that the two of you so conveniently neglected to include:

In summary, I believe that Ann Coulter, and anyone else who lost a loved one that day, would have been "within bounds" to say something like that, in their first reactions to their own personal loss within the worst mass murder in US history.

This doesn't mean I'd give her or anyone else a free pass to say such a thing eight years after 9/11. Not at all. The extraordinary context that exists immediately after any tragedy of that magnitude fades over time.

Similarly: If, say, a lifelong friend of mine has never uttered foul language in my hearing, but breaks his perfect record at the exact moment someone drops an anvil on his foot, I would vociferously defend to any of his detractors the appropriateness of his remarks, within the context, but without in any way implying that, "Yes, in general, it's quite all right to use this language in public".

Nuff said.

Um, "their elbows and knees hurt me?" If I know anything about human anatomy, there is not much fat that grows on the elbows and knees. There is something about washboard tummies that turns me on. Wouldn't you think there was a washboard tummy in there?

I view Ann Coulter as a glamorous clown. She’s good for entertainment value, but has lost credibility as a serious thinker.

Ann Coulter is first and foremost a writer whose business is to sell books. She sells books because she is controversial and annoying to the lefties. She has a zombie following even on this site. Her business is to stir up controversy so she can hog time in the press. Her business is making money and if the market dries up on our side of the aisle look for her to do a Huffington and switch sides.

“there is not much fat that grows on the elbows and knees”

That’s right there isn’t much, that’s why you need some. Maybe you haven’t been around many bony women. Their little elbows and knees are sharp and pointy and yes they hurt! Jabbing you every which way. You can’t hardly sleep with em’. There no fun to hug.

No, I don’t care for washboard tummies on women unless it is well hidden under something soft. Healthy yes, firm yes, hard bodies, no.

It’s all okay though, Ann wouldn’t like the way I look either, and I wouldn’t be one bit offended.

Puh-Leeze. The "Jersey Gals" deserved every word of vitrol against them, milking a tragedy to score left-wing political points.

As for John Edwards, he does look like a flaming bundle of sticks...

I like Ann and think she is brilliant. She got mad at the nomination and said a few things, but she is deeply on our side. Overlook the small faults of your friends.

wow ...you all are still going on this.

Incapable of carrying on a serious discussion? After being called a troll, DUer, homo, etc. simply for offering constructive criticism of Ann? I didn’t devolve this discussion. I don’t like the idea of implying that every Indian runs a 7/11 (I wonder how many of you ranted against Biden and Billary for that) or provides cell phone services, or grew up as a slumdog. It’s just a dumb stereotype. That’s what I expect from the left...balkanization of groups.

Trent: overreaction by the media (cover of Newsweek and all), but I wouldn’t praise Strom for running on a segregationist ticket.

Horton ad: right on point and not racist.
Jesse Helms: not a racist ad to point out the unfairness of AA.
