Aw, that’s not right! :-(

If she wanted her estate to go to benefit dogs, then that is exactly what should have happened. To only give 1% or less of her money left behind to dog related charities is insulting to her wishes.

As far as those grandkids that were left out of the will, it is possible they were left out for a reason...

I hope all the big animal welfare groups band together and sue the pants off these trustees. Just imagine the kickbacks they’re getting for diverting all this money to medical conglomerates, instead of putting it where the deceased obviously wanted it. Mrs. Helmsley didn’t get along with humans, and she wanted the bulk of her estate to go to dogs. The $12 million she specified for her own little doggie Trouble, is pretty solid evidence that she intended for huge amounts to go to dogs.

That is where she screwed up. She gave the Trustees free reign to give to whatever causes they deemed proper. Apparently the court read the directives that way and has approved all the transfers as stated.
