I have been to see Ernie Pyle’s grave at Punchbowl in Hawaii. Very beautiful setting. Ellison Onizuka, who was killed aboard the shuttle Challenger is buried a few plots away. Two of the many, many great Americans buried there.
Read it before and it touches me every time. Men to base your life on, both of them. Ernie Pyle, a real reporter(not journalists but reporter of the first water)and the Captain, the man we all hope to be when we grow up, the one we see when we watch John Wayne fight his way across the screen. God bless 'em all, the ones who died in a blaze of glory, the ones who died without much glory at all and the ones who died in obscurity, still waiting for their bones to be found. They all gave everything a person can give so we could all remain free.
Their reward? A generation so full of sh** they voted Bozo into office the very antithesis of what these brave men stood for. May we kick his tail out of office soon.
