LINN COUNTY - Tracy Seaton, 47, of Shellsburg, Iowa pulled in a 79 pound 4 ounce Bighead Carp from the banks of the Cedar River in Cedar Rapids Thursday evening.
Iowa DNR Officer Paul Sleeper verified the fish is a new state record beating out the previous weight of a 76 pound carp caught last year.
Seaton used the bow and arrow fishing technique to catch the fish.
The Bighead carp is an exotic fish from Asia and is considered an invasive species in Iowa.

He stalked the giant fish for parts of three days before he finally got close enough for the shot. Seaton's arrow went through the fish's head, killing it within seconds.

Right, but the invasive species in the WH is there to stay til’ 2012 and no one knows where it came from. Some say Kenya, some Indonesia..
To: Daffynition
Must be one heck of a shot to use a bow-arrow combo for the shot. What;s wrong with using a good ole fashion reel or an AR-15?

Usually that means no bag limits. Game on.

I think so.
That reminds me of my favorite carp recipe: how to cook roasted planked carp: “Scale and gut a carp. Nail it to a plank. Roast over an open fire until the meat flakes. Throw away the carp and eat the plank. Onions and bell pepper may be added. There is also a recipe for baked carp. Scale and gut the carp and split into two halves. Place a brick between the two halves, cover with bell pepper, onion and salt and wrap in tin foil Bake in an oven for three hours. Unwrap carefully, throw away the carp and eat the brick. It will be better than the carp. Also works with a shingle or, if camping, a river rock.”

Ken Alto displays a large carp he caught in the St. Louis River in June 2009 in Duluth, Minn. Alto has been bowfishing for 20 years, seriously for the past 12, he says. Very seriously. He has bowfished in Montana, North Dakota, Iowa, Michigan, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Alabama and Louisiana. (AP Photo/Duluth News Tribune, Bob King)

You call that a fish?

Reminds me of the recipe for Delmonico Steak. Just place the Delmonico Steak between two Porterhouse Steaks, attach steaks together, grill until Porterhouse Steaks are burnt. Remove Delmonico Steak and serve.

They are very bony but fun as heck to catch. Smoked they aren’t too bad but there are better fish by far.
