I hope they investigate this. Getting out of its aquarium? Getting up into the crib? I’m not sure this is beleivable.

I’m with you. These people are stupid beyond belief but I’m not sure I’m buying the story.

Unlocked cage, snake had already escaped earlier in the day.

Florida law says the cage needs to be locked and it wasn’t. Stupid parents, poor baby.

“Getting out of its aquarium? Getting up into the crib? I’m not sure this is beleivable.”

Definitely believeable. Pythons/boas, etc... are escape artists. And getting into a crib is simple stuff for a snake. Watch one climb sometime. Sounds like you’re a bit overdue on the snake pin at the zoo. ;)

Those were my first thoughts. Live in boyfriend, snake getting out twice in one night, just happening to crawl to the baby’s crib from another room...sounds like a lot of coincidences. Hopefully, they’ll investigate further.

“...I hope they investigate this. Getting out of its aquarium? Getting up into the crib? I’m not sure this is believable.....”

I am learning towards this thought as well. Come on, who calls 911 and says “the baby is dead”? Ummmm, does your child have a name? Boy or girl....would you feel less guilt if you called and said “The external Fetus is dead...”

Either way, stupidity or foul play, these people are IDIOTS!
let me guess, they could not get the tarantula and scorpion to attack....

There have been stories like this for years-once every two or three years at least.

You need to read the entire article. It says that the guy had no permit to keep the snake and the cage was unsecured and had no lock on it. Also the snake had gotten out of it's cage earlier that night.

Stupidity beyond believe

It also said that there were bite marks on the baby’s head. probably from the snake’s attempt to eat the baby. That ought to be easily verified.

But ANY time “mommy’s boyfriend” is in the picture, I suspect murder.

ABSOLUTELY believable (no matter how it is spelled). Snakes are remarkably strong, and strong climbers. In addition, they are extremely sensitive detectors of prey. “bit the child on the head”?

NO- it wasn’t biting it, that was the first part of working to swallow the child, which probably wasn’t possible for this snake. However, with no experience to guide it in this respect, and working only on instinct, it would not have realized that was futile until it tried at length.

Having watched a friend’s 10+ ft. python crawl around the living room and raise the first 1/3 of its body off the floor to climb up onto the couch and other furniture, I can easily believe this. It is one big MUSCLE, stronger than you can imagine.

Why isn’t it believable? I’ve known people who have had snakes and they do escape sometimes. Getting into a crib. Is this difficult for a snake in your mind?

Getting out of its aquarium? Getting up into the crib? I’m not sure this is beleivable.

Alternative scenario?

Sounds believable to me, I knew a guy with a python and it was always getting out and hiding in the house. He wasn’t married though. The damn thing creeped me out and I would not go over there after the first visit. I worked with the guy for a long time and he was always telling about his snake getting out.
