I liked _Crimes and Misdemeanors_, but _Mighty Aphrodite_ was the last of his that I’ve seen. I thought both films were marred by unnecessary scatology.

I enjoyed the real-world view of justice and the lack of it as well as the way men will rationalize their own worst behaviour in Crimes (got it right this time) and Misdemeanors.
In the seventies or early eighties I saw a NY Daily News headline taped to the door of a bedroom in a housing project in Harlem. The guy who lived there was a numbers runner who kept getting arrested, not a bad guy, he was trying to make a buck. The headline read...
GAMBINO DIES IN BED.
I bet Allen saw the same headline.
