They must be trying to lose viewer with that strategy.

I am always amazed that websites look to aggravate the very people who come to them. It only takes one time to turn me off permanently.

Haven’t been to newsmax in years.

The same thing has happened to me. Web pages such as NewsMax have a list of advertisers that they randomly load on their pages at any given time

Yep, me too.

Found this on McAfee site advisor

Their pop up sent me to a site with tried to download the following virues/malware to my system until I close the page.
Trojanmalscript!html
Bloodhound.Exploit.213
Trojan.Fakeavaleart
I am an IT tech and I know these pieces of crap can really f-up a system. Beware of newsmax.com. They must be running short on money so they are not checking out their advertisers too closely.

warning was fake, but no matter how you try to click out of it, it brings up a fake “scanning files” page, so I immediately shut down the network

I started having the same problems last week. Yesterday however I opened the site and got non stop warnings, the virus screen, the infected screen and a total lock up of the system. Eventually I had to pull the power plug I was so locked up. Today everything works fine but I deleted Newsmax from my favorites and simply will not go to their site again until I’m told it’s fixed.

I got this yesterday, at Amazon, and today at the NY Post site.

Just happened to me and a couple of my friends. We have been going to NewsMax for quite some time, but this weekend all 3 of us got the “fake antivirus” scanner.

Buddies spent $100 to bring computer in and have it fixed. I got lucky and my AVG program finally caught it and cleaned it, but it took me 3 days!

Tech at the local computer shop said it is a fairly typical attack in that it is designed to get your credit card number. Not really malicious in the sense that it will do massive damage to your system, but it obviously makes the system inoperable.

I have finally seen the light and switched to FireFox....NO more IE for me!
