My best friend, Red, was 7 years old and was within days of being consigned to the Humane Society deathcamp. The elderly couple who owned him were bound for an “adult community” which only allowed purse dogs. I was mourning my old pit “Brunhilde” and was really not ready for a replacement but I took Red anyway. I will never regret it. He and I rambled all over the West and never had a sad day.
I’m glad you found that puppy a ranch. That’s where they’re happiest.
Dogs are just the finest creatures, and I thank God for them. I love and appreciate them all while keeping a healthy respect for their capabilities. If I could, I’d spend all my time trying to find good homes for the lost, the old, and the unwanted.
I’m happy to hear you had a wonderful relationship with your buddy. Those are memories to treasure forever. Do you presently have a pooch?
