On September 5th Sean Konrad obliterated the IGFA all-tackle world rainbow record with a 48-pound rainbow out of Saskatchewan's Lake Diefenbaker...

The Rainbow is a ‘triploid.’ Some hatcheries are ‘heat-shocking’ eggs, which then hatch sterile fish that unburdened with reproductive activity eat a lot and grow very large. It’s a somewhat new program, to develop large fish for recreational fisheries.

Steelhead or trout, what kind of tackle are these guys using? The 8-inch trout on the Pere Marquette bend my no. 8 flyrod as it is; those suckers would break the rod.
