I don’t particularly LIKE the snow, but I sure as heck prefer that over freezing rain!

Big difference on where you are, north of the river is getting a goodly amount of snow, south of the river is getting ‘wintery mix’.

Thank you. I went to the range today with the Sig, plus some other test firings. Plus three small completed projects, plus one big one I'm not ready to announce yet.

The Sunday Supplement may need a supplement.

Here's the Sunday Supplement for Saturday Night Gun Pron brought to you early Monday morning. I had to spend several hours dedicated to Real Life before I could photograph and write this stuff up.

First, range report on the Sig 522. Basically, it digested about eight different brands of ammo with one hiccup, which may not be the Sig's fault. Even finicky low-velocity ammo like RWS subsonic and Federal Champions worked well. I was on the 25 yard pistol range, and fired at 50 feet, without trying to adjust scope or sights. This was strictly a function test.

Also at the range, I was able to try out the Crimson Trace laser grip for the Beretta C21. At 40 feet, I was able to keep all the shots on the paper. Without the laser, there was no guarantee I could even hit the target at that range.

All of the electronics and batteries are in the right grip panel, giving it some bulges and curves that actually make the handgun more comfortable to hold and shoot. Add that to the fact that it doubles the effective range, and it makes this accessory a real winner.

I also received the DeSantis "superfly" pocket holster this week. This is the super-sticky version of the "nemesis" holster. It also has a detachable flap to help further hide the outline of the gun in the pocket.

While the special surface treatment made the holster vey much stickier, I found that made the draw more difficult for me. With the less-sticky "nemesis", I found a bit of holster movement was quicker, and "printed" less than the sticky holster, which seemed to move my whole pocket around. The flap made it harder to get my hand around the grip, and all the extra stitching on the holster made it much stiffer, and held onto the Beretta much tighter than the original, making for more obvious moves on my part.

In what will (I hope) be the final word on grips for my Sig P229, I put on the Hogue "super aggressive" G10 grips for a tryout. Women have lots of shoes, I have lots of grips and holsters for handguns.

These grips are so aggressive, I could have grabbed the muzzle with my other hand, and sanded the skin off the hand holding the gun. Even firing .22s, I would recommend gloves. Here's a closeup of the grips before I put the aluminum ones back on.

Finally, a minor accessory added to "my leetle friend" as the build phase of the project wraps up. It's a strap-on cheekpiece cushion with fake suede on the left side, and a small pouch on the right. The top bar of the stock is Delrin plastic, so it isn't as hot or cold as aluminum, but I wanted a bit more luxury for my face. I also got the thinner butt pad, which brought the stock length down into the "just right for me" range.

I made up a minimal survival kit for the pouch. It has whistle, compass, two sources of fire, surgical prep blade and hacksaw, some 550 paracord, band aids, and a micro flashlight. Also some ear plugs, and lip balm, since I hate ringing ears and chapped lips.

And that was how I spent part of my week.
