>>Whether the setting happens to be a battleground, a market or a hockey rink, we will make you understand that the Vikings, very much, still are alive.
This is hilarious!! I was in Stockholm this summer and saw rainbow flags flying all over the city and a city full of men with purses. Unless Viking is Swede-speak for “flaming homosexual”, I didn’t see any Vikings.
The whole “we were badasses...in the 17th century” is equally funny. You’re a funny guy WC!!
They used Lucas electronics.
They were built by union slugs.
That being said, most of them were chick magnets. (Trust me-I had an MGB that would put Bill Clinton's "blue dress" to shame.) Scandanavian cars are four-wheeled self selected birth control.
Stick to your saunas and conflicted buxom blondes and stay out of geopolitical things. We'll take care of them.
Don't delude yourself. America is infected with the same disease. Sweden and other Western European nations are just a little bit further down the Nihilism road, that's all.
'We'? No, not 'we'. Our forefathers did.
The current generation seems intent on pissing it all away. 'We' - the current generation - have dropped the ball in a big way. Measured against the founders and those who built this nation, we are by comparison a nation of overweight wimps and weenies resting on the laurels of those who have gone before us while squandering our inheritance.
You, like so many others take American contributions to the world for granted. Just look around and notice what you see and ask yourself "Where did that come from?" Then think about what you don't see.
Look the last round of Nobel prizes for the sciences. (yes, Everyone knows that the Peace and literature prizes are ridiculously bad jokes).
But you are also correct to wonder about the future. America's Golden Age is coming to a close. Unless something dramatic happens, the fears of our founding fathers will continue to come to fruition. The entitlement mentality is killing the entrepreneurial class (goose) that drives our innovation (lays the golden egg), especially when we see political correctness trumping the scientific method (global warming, energy production, diversity, etc.)
We're sailing into stormy seas.
You have a point, but I’m from the generation that grew up in a free country, and even though we lived under the threat of nuclear annihilation, we still worked as if our tomorrows were guaranteed.
It’s the same generation that is watching its parents squander their savings on Viagra and plastic surgery to stay young, while demanding the government take care of them. We also get to watch our spoiled and politically-indoctrinated children vote for a communist for President because “communism means fairness for all” to them.
Even though I can’t claim to be a Founding Father, I still reject the concepts of a noble class (the political and celebrity classes), overcrowded cities, and state religions (global warming and secularism). I was pointing out to W/C (who was comparing the weaknesses of present-day America to the successes of 17th Century Sweden) that we rejected much of European culture then, and we (or at the least, I) still reject what passes for culture in Europe today.
A little late getting back to you.
What I should have clarified is that while I recognize we have the Muslims among us (although they are invisible to the Obama Administration), we are physically separated from the hordes that could easily infiltrate Western Europe.
Yeah, we’re in danger but not nearly the danger that the Europeans are in.
