I liked Dino better. He seemed like a nicer guy. Dean possibly had a better voice but Sinatra had better material to sing. The whole Dino boozing thing was a comedy bit.

Dean was cool. I liked the sound of his voice, it was relaxed. Now I listen to Michael Buble. He respects the music that Frank and Dino and those guys made popular.

Dino was, apparently, a nicer guy — though neither men was very easy to get to know. Both were very stand-offish: Dino in a colder, more indifferent fashion; Frank at times brutally. Jerry Lewis’ autobio about Dean and him is pretty revealing. As to Frank, from everything I’ve read, the public Frank was pretty much the private Frank as well.

Saw Dean in Vegas in 1987 or 88. The announcer said And Now Direct from the Bar....Dean Martin!!!
