Alabama upsets No. 1 Florida in SEC title game
the Sporting News ^ | 12-5-09 | Sporting News Statf reports

Alabama is headed for the BCS championship game, thanks to a stunning -- and near-perfect -- victory over No. 1 Florida. The Crimson Tide, ranked No. 2, broke open a tight SEC title game in Atlanta with a solid second half, defeating the Gators 32-13 on Saturday.

The Crimson Tide punched their ticket to the national title game with a magnificent performance against Florida, the defending national champion. They pounded out just shy of 500 yards of offense and forced Gators QB Tim Tebow into uncharacteristic mistakes.

ROLL TIDE!

My only disappointment is Saban choosing not to score again. I’m filled with Gator hate. Can ya tell?

Fla certainly seems to have choked on the big one - I’m a little pissed because I wanted to see the Gator/Longhorn matchup.

This was a great, great game. I like Tebow even though he plays for Florida.

A total smackdown of the Gators by the Tide. Nick Saban and the Tide are unstoppable.

I’m a USC guy too but I always liked Tebow. I figure there are going to be some comments from people about him tearing up at the end of the game. Evidently they were never played for a team that you put everything into and one day realized your time with was over (whether at the high school, college, or pro level).

Tim Tebow is a precious godly young man and has a wonderful Christian testimony! For that I am thankful! I won't say anything bad about a blood bought brother!

I'm a bulldawg to my FRiend :)

And Fla doesn't beat us every year by any stretch... recently yes :(

When I was a boy we beat them regularly - how I long for the days. Now that Martinez is gone and Ga gets Tuberville for def coord, we'll be back... I swear!

I can't believe he held them back from the 500 yards on the day.

Saban was a class act today. I give him credit and I am a Volunteer fan.

Meyer would have passed or run a reverse for the yardage, the points, and the salt in the wound.

How great was that game?!

The big victory was made a LOT sweeter knowing 0bammy was chearing for Florida. hehe

So can we add that to the column of one more thing 0bama endorses, it comes up short, like the Chicago Olympics bid?

Yeah, Florida never really showed up today and Alabama looked great. Now the question is, which Alabama team will show up for the big show, the one that played today or the one that almost got beat by TENNESSEE?!!! Go Vols!
