James said he had a mild concussion and was sensitive to bright sunlight. So Leach asked him to go into a large, cool shed where he would not be exposed to bright sunlight. What's wrong with that?
Yep. He was due an 800k bonus tomorrow.
The coach should have had this kid hospitalized ~ NOT JUST WATCHED.
One of my brothers-in-law was actually sent home from practice with a serious concussion ~ just dropped off in front of the house ~ not a word from the coach.
It wasn't until he'd eaten dinner for the third time the family became aware that there was "something wrong".
You actually can't be too careful, and even a fellow with 10 years experience as a top level coach can make a mistake with concussion. I kind of wonder about the medical personnel supporting the team too ~ certainly they must have had contact with head injury cases before?
Then there's the kid's father ~ he's got some symptoms that probably need checked out too ~ and I'd have the cops interview the player about his relationship with pop.
How is it punitive? He doesn't have a right to be on the team.
All he had to do was say, "Screw this" and walk out. He didn't. He freely chose to stand in a large, cool shed out of the sunlight while his teammates sweated and worked their tails off in the hot sun. His choice, and his choice alone.
If it was "punishment," it was punishment he freely chose.
Everything Leach did was done with a approval of a doctor.
Next.
Since none of these guys (the players, the coaches) are physicians, they should err on the side of caution. Even if the guy lies about the color of the sky or the time of day he can still suffer from concussion ~ particularly if he’s been previously injured.
If that's the way a judge sees it. Given the money involved, I'm sure that Leach's attorney will take a stab at saying there wasn't any "cause" because the incident (according to what I'm hearing on this thread) was barely investigated by T-T.
The doctor saw NO reason to hospitalize James.
The doctor is already on record as saying nothing Leach did harmed or further jeopardized James's health to the slightest degree.
I think the concussion was not on the same day muawiyah - the boy had been checked by a doctor and diagnosed with a “mild” concussion. We had several players with severe concussions this year - no one disputed the james kid had a mild concussion - the coach didn’t bully him to practice - he gave him the time out and had him watched - per doctors orders - I think adam wanted to go home and rest - but again, sleep is not what doctors tell patients to do after a concussion - even a mild one -
Nothing. (If that's the way it happened). I'd have probably sent a trainer in there to make sure he didn't seize of something.
Don't know if he did or didn't. What I do know is that Adam James was always too injured to practice, but never too hurt to miss a game. The kid cried wolf - often. So a couple of weeks ago he strolls to practice with his designer sunglasses on and says he has a concussion - so the coach sent him to a room that was shaded and cool.
In case you missed it, there is a title at the top right of the page on this thread that says “General/Chat”. It’s not Breaking News. It’s not National Security. It’s General/Chat. Go be pompous somewhere else.
I don't see TT's prospects at a high-quality coach that bleak. Tech has fine facilities, lots of money and alumni donors with deep pockets and influence. Tech has every potential to be a continuing powerhouse in a tough, competitive conference, IMHO.
James is trying to spin it like the trainer was a concentration camp guard.
Between MSU's problems, and now TT's, this bowl will be very interesting. Seriously doubt James will see any playing time, unless the AD dictates it.
I am willing to be *if* this goes to court, James will use the words ‘cruel and unusual punishment’. Watch.
Agreed rintense - I was very proud of the MSU coach for standing by his convictions and not allowing the students in question to play. That took guts and a high moral character - few coaches have that these days. I am so sorry all of this is affecting the Bowl Game - this should be a fun time for both teams to enjoy after a year of hard work - instead it has become a media circus with a lot of upset fans. I still anticipate a lot of boos is baby boy adam steps onto the field
All I can say is, Adam James and his pappy don’t fit the Texas model of “no excuse” toughness that I’m familiar with.
Leach did nothing wrong.
Yeah, the game should be about the kids. Not this year. I almost went to the game (I'm a MSU alum). I'm very interested to see if the players have been given a gag order by the AD to not talk about this.
