A good example of this sort of film is Quentin Tarantino's recent Inglourious Basterds I loved Inglourious Basterds.

I can't believe no one has mentioned Stallone's arm wrestling epic "Over the Top".
To: 1rudeboy; ctdonath2
Agreed.
Probably the best tour of the Hermitage I'll ever get to see.

The Rocky films. Curses be upon you.
To: mnehring
Sorry, but I still think the Rocky films are boring. Though I admit that a) I could have been spoiled by Raging Bull, b) I think Sylvester Stallone can't act his way out of a parking ticket, and c) I frankly don't hold with a "sport" whose main object seems to be beating someone into a coma.

Dune is about a young man who finds out that there is a secret society of Knights that have special powers and the hero turns out to be one of them. They fight an evil empire as rebels and there is a planet with giant worms under the sand that eats people.

Jabberwocky
City Slickers
And that Star Trek movie where they went to save the whales or dolphins or whatever...

Honestly, I can’t believe how disappointing it was. If you want to look at the positive side, you can see it as a tale that requires a lot of imagination on your part. You don’t get a lot of character development or background. But, the animation may just be enough to distract you from the lack of cohesive plot, and perhaps that’s what the storytellers were counting on.
If you’re doing Netflix, then all you’ll really be losing is time before the next movie in your queue, and if I’d had half a brain, I would have done the same thing - but we were looking for something to watch post-holiday. If you’re curious, go for it. At least you won’t be wasting twenty bucks on a DVD that should come with a “SEND IMMEDIATELY TO BACK OF DUSTY SHELF” warning.

I was always a King fan, but hes become a major, major a**hole in recent years. I dropped King when he began writing every Christian and pro-lifer as a mouth breathing, half-witted, bigotted idiot.
Later, he made the remark to a group of high-school students about studying or they would be stupid and have to join the Army.

I loved The Coneheads! Conversely, my pick for worst movie is A Clockwork Orange. I was barely a teenager when I first saw it, and it scared me badly with it's ugliness. Now look...

I read all of the posts so far and agreeing with a lot of them but to me the worst I have ever seen and am ashamed to say I paid to see was “Surf Nazi’s Must Die”.

I actually like Dune - I even bought the DVD. But then again, I’ve never read the book, so my perspective may be different.
As for worst movies of all time, I nominate Ishtar, Waterworld, Mad Max and my all-time love/hate movie, Plan Nine From Outer Space.
Got that DVD, too ;)

GI Jane, any Jaws movie past 2.
U-571 was like Pearl Harbor, an “obamanation” that screwed with factual history that would have made an outstanding yarn if left alone.
Anything with Van Damme is pretty much puke worthy.

And that Star Trek movie where they went to save the whales or dolphins or whatever... Hey that was one of the good fun ones. The turkeys were the ones where someone made noble sacrifice.

Some will probably disagree but my nominee for "Worst-ever Picture" would be Paris Texas
As opposed to Happy Texas?
