You know that the GRANDMOTHER, i.e., Ann’s mother was known to all as either “Toot” or “Toots” — even Michelle Obama once referred to her with this nickname, and she did NOT mean Stanley Ann, her late mother in law.

The African side of the family refer to JR’s mom as Anna Toot, or is that what you are saying.....Found it in several places when I was looking for connections between the Obama family and the missionaries in Africa.

I know. At first I thought it was a mistaken referral to Madelyn. I googled “Annie Toot” and did indeed find a few references referring to Anne.

I try to keep in mind these stories are ancedotal and may not be told by the best of historians.
