The Twitter frenzy that erupted on Sunday between Silent Bob and Southwest has now become a blog bout.
Southwest posted its side of the story on its official blog on Monday, while Kevin Smith delivered his own missive on the incident that had the portly writer/director booted from a flight for being overweight.
"Mr. Smith originally purchased two Southwest seats on a flight from Oakland to Burbank as he's been known to do when traveling on Southwest," said the airline's statement.

I don’t have a problem with SW’s general policy.
I do have a problem with them enforcing it selectively with seemingly no objective standards.

In the wake of this, the National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance is urging for a boycott of Southwest Airlines, telling "people of size to seek out and travel airlines that do not have such discriminatory policies." LOL

I have been on flights sitting next to people whose girth pushed against me the entire time, so much so that I had sweat stains on that side. Just because Bob can squeeze into a seat does not mean he has a right to space I paid for.

Maybe the airlines need a test seat at each gate just like they have carry-on baggage size checkers.
If you can fit in the seat without triggering the spring loaded arms, you only need one ticket. If one of the arms lets loose, you need too seats.

The guy buys two seats, gets one seat when HE initiates the change, gets booted with $100 returned to his pocket, and now complains. The guy is a lunatic.

Sounds like Smith would have gotten his two seats if he had stayed on his original planned flight. But he wanted to fly earlier — he had no earlier RESERVATION — and just expected SWA to have two seats on that flight, standby. Then he bitches about it like a Hollywood primadonna.
Sounds like an easy call, unless I missed something there.

I wish to wholeheartedly endorse this boycott. And yes as a matter of fact I do fly Southwest when I can.

Weird. This has to be some sort of gimmic to trump up attention to something related to kevin smith or SWA.
To: iowamark
That would be a HUGE boycott...
