For some reason, I always detested those public marriage proposals. Just strikes me as wrong.
If I did do it, I would make darn certain what the answer was going to be before I asked. In fact I would make certain the girl knew it was going to happen before hand.

He should have known if this was a woman who likes public or private proposals. She obviously was not that big a fan.
He should NOT try and stay friends with her. He should move on.

Yes. I have always thought these things to be trite. Besides this should be one of those private moments even if there is certainty that the proposal will be accepted.
There's too much of Hollywood invading real life.
