While it was felt by the grander critics, such as A. O. Scott, of The New York Times, that Bullock can act perfectly well at times, this particular film was given a thumbs down for its retrograde content.

Bullock stars as a rich Southern belle who takes in a homeless black teenager who then becomes a star American-football player, thanks to her good, Christian encouragement.

The film garnered atrocious reviews, and massive audiences in red-state multiplexes. It is still to be released in Britain. Bullock’s character was compared — with her tight white pencil skirts, and white Christian values — to Sarah Palin and became a mascot for the Tea Party Republicans.

I thought it was an outstanding movie and enjoyed it thoroughly... personally I don’t give a rip what critics have to say, 9 times out if 10 if they hate a movie I enjoy it.
