Arizona Cardinals linebacker Joey Porter was arrested outside a Taco Bell this morning after officials say Porter put his hands on a cop.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Joey was driving in a Taco Bell parking lot in Bakersfield -- his home town -- when a friend of Joey's was was stopped by police.
According to officials, Porter pulled up near the action - too close apparently -- because a CHP officer rolled over to his car, where he detected the smell of alcohol coming from Porter's car.
Cops say the officer asked for Porter's driver's license, but he refused to hand it over. ... instead, officials say, the 33-year-old tried to roll up his window.

The NFL - gainfully employing felonious criminals for over 40 years.
As a Seahawks fan, I say thank you Joey, keep it up.

Yup. You do this and you should be FOREVER BANNED from playng ANY sports.
FAIL!
Go get a job at Walmart, punk.
Beats the time he was in Denver....
who hell he?
Nope.
Joey = idiot.
As a Cardinals fan, I am thoroughly embarrassed.
Why are there so many thugs in professional sports?
I read somewhere that over 10% of NFL players, for example, have been in trouble with the law.
Couldn’t the owners really clean up sports by refusing to hire these people?
Think of the good public relations they would enjoy by doing something like that.
As it is, their employing of thugs and low lifes has turned me and other fans off. I would never go to an NBA game again. Too many people not worth paying hundreds of dollars to go watch play the game.
I cancelled TV and I do not miss it. I watch one game on Thanksgiving. The NFL fawns over Obama during every game and has Olberman doing game shows. F the NFL.
I am a Redskins’ fan living in Dallas for the last 40+ years... being a ‘Skins fan hasn’t been too fun these last 15 or so years... but I’ll tell you, the dullus cowgirlz had cornered the market for thugy-ness in the 90s... I really liked seeing jerry “dingle berry” jonez getting punched in the face over and over by the press/fans for having a bunch of thugs on his teams.
Try double that. I read a book about 10 years ago called Pros and Cons: The Criminals Who Play in the NFL. In it, the authors cite statistics from one of the seasons in the late '90s (I think 1998), in which 20% of the roster players had been charged with a serious crime.
There was another book written several years later - its name escapes - that covered all the major sports, and it too painted a bleak picture of the NFL and the criminals it employees. I believe the statistics were actually worse by the time that book was published.
They have black people in Bakersfield? Who knew?
(Yes, that’s a joke.)

I’d like to try getting rid of TV too.. but my other half would not be a haPPy Camper.. no QVC or Dancing with Sweaty Celebritites, not this trip .. plus we just got HD..
Only watches Thanksgiving Day .. A Lions fan to boot.
Usually, so long as you don't use a weapon, nor cause any actual harm to the cop, you'll get the misdemeanor assault on a peace officer charge. If you use a weapon, or bruise, cut or scrape the cop in any way, you're facing a Class C/D (1-10 years) felony in most states.
Of course, when we do watch games at our friends’ home I LOVE watching Jared Allen do his calf roping thing after a sack. I guess I've got a thing for cowboys, especially one who looks a lot like my husband ;).
Think of the cosmic physical forces at work when two “do you know who I am” particles collide! Looks like the COP particle is still stronger than the PRO particle.
