Don't know if I am excited or horrified by the thought of tonight's performances.
I think some of the kids may be able to pull off a Lennon/McCartney song fairly decently, but others shouldn't even try.

I am forced to watch AI by my family.
Well, I mean nobody forces me to do anything but I promised them I would watch it so I force myself.
You see, I spend most evenings in my shop working on my secondary income so I promised that on the nights that AI is on, we as a family would have family TV night.
I know, it makes me want to vomit too... but the kids like the show and I guess we need SOME time together.
They don’t know that while I appear to be interested, I am really thinking of valve clearances and timing marks the entire time.
So NYANYAAAA!

My husband loves this show. I am bored by it.
It makes him happy if I pretend to be interested so I sit, watch and pretend to like it.
I do like looking at Casey though. :)

I'm dreading tonight. Why? Because we're STILL in a 2-hour format. Fewer contestants; more weird Seacrest inanity filler. Oh the
horror.
Next Tuesday we're finally down to 88 minutes (because a special Glee will be on for 32 minutes)

Very little in the way of train wrecks. They're good songs, typically simple, well-known melodies, and none of the contestants tried anything all too goofy.
That said, this means that there's very little shake-up in my overall rankings. I have Siobhan retaking the lead since she finally got herself back under control, but otherwise, no movement up or down:
- (last week 2) Siobhan - She's still my favorite, and she retakes the #1 spot after finally stopping the free-fall.
- (last week 1) Crystal - Solid, dependable, consistent. But for some reason I still don't like her. Maybe because she comes across as a hippie*. I can also go to a local bar and hear someone just like her on a Saturday night.
- (last week 3) Casey - Same as above, except that I like him for some inexplicable reason.
- (last week 4) Michael - He's almost as good as he thinks he is, but he's trying too hard. If he relaxes and doesn't try to force things, he'll do better.
- (last week 5) Lee - I just don't "get" Lee. I mean, he's alright and all, but I get no conenction with him whatsoever.
- (last week 7) Katie - She's continuing to improve, and she's starting to impress. If she keeps this up, she will be moving up the list.
- (last week 8) Aaron - Keeps singing things "too old" for him, and while it seemed like a good start to the evening, after hearing everyone else, he's out of his depth.
- (last week 9) Andrew - I honestly can't remember a single thing about his performance last night. That can't be good.
- (last week 10) Tim - Best performance by miles. I'd consider bumping him up a spot based on that, but past history is hard to overcome.
* "Hippies. They're everywhere. They wanna save the earth, but all they do is smoke pot and smell bad." - Eric Cartman
===========
Voted off #10 (my rank: 6) Didi - Really had a tought time trying to infuse emotion into songs without them overwhelming her. A couple of weeks straight of being too controlled was her downfall, as it came across as overreheased and ingenuine. Still, there were others who deserved to go before her.
Voted off #11 (my rank: 11) Paige - Seems like a nice girl, but just not ready for this; even without the voice problems, song selection was awful.
Voted off #12 (my rank: 12) Lacey - Don't let the door hit you on the way out!

(De-fund Obamacare in 2011, repeal in 2013!)
Tuesdays performances rankings
1t. Crystal (another great performance, although the didgeridoo was a bit distracting)
1t. Katie (she’s not popular on this board, but I thought she was in excellent form)
3. Siobhan (a toned down Siobhan got her back on track)
4. Tim (he’s the last of the people I thought would get eliminated before the Top 12, but for a change, I actually liked his latest performance)
5. Casey (Everybody seemed to like it more than I. Thought it was OK)
6. Andrew (took a step back, corny)
7. Aaron (meh)
8. Lee (I thought it was his worst performance... his vocals were off... it was pretentious... although the bagpipes were a WTF moment, they actually did somehow compliment the song)
9. Big Mike (I think he’s been the most consistently good among the men, but I thought this was a complete train-wreck... the vocals did not line up with the music, and it wasn’t very harmonious)
Overall
1. Crystal (last week #1)
2. Siobhan (2)
3. Katie (6)
4. Big Mike (3)
5. Casey (5)
6. Lee (4)
7. Andrew (7)
8. Aaron (8)
9. Tim (9)
So far since the beginning of the Top 12, all three eliminations have been the girls, with Katie being vulnerable in the bottom three repeatedly. It’s about time some of the guys started to be eliminated.

Eh...still pissed Didi got voted off. Beautiful voice just tried to do too much with it those last 2 songs. Think she was better than half the kids left though.
Stupid use of the save. Big Mike has no shot at winning. Betting Crystal vs. Casey in the finale.

Best thing happened to the girl that lost last night. She is pretty young and if she stuck around any longer, she might have turned into a Lambert.

I may regret posting this, but... Season 8's own "Norman Gentle" has a music video out...
Norman Gentle w/ "Gentle" - Brit Slap!
or if you prefer...
Norman Gentle w/ "Gentle" - B****slap!
American Idol season eight top 25 finalist Norman Gentle offers a saucy toast to outgoing judge Simon Cowell in his debut dance toss-up Brit Slap, featuring a maddeningly catchy chorus, a throbbing beat and production from New York-based duo DNA. The songs accompanying video clip, featuring a cameo from Americas Top Model judge Nigel Barker, literally stopped traffic in Manhattans Times Square, as thousands of passers-by joined in the tribute.
