Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll has responded Thursday afternoon to the NCAA sanctions against his former USC Trojans football team with a videotaped message released on YouTube via his Twitter account.
Carroll said he was "absolutely shocked" by the NCAA's decision to bring the hammer down on his former program with a two-year bowl ban and stripping of 30 scholarships over the next three seasons.
"I am extremely disappointed we have to deal with this right now," he said. "After going through the process from the depositions and interviews over years and years and also participating in the hearing with the NCAA, I never thought there were any facts that supported these significant sanctions that have come forth."
He said the primary issue was always whether the university and his staff were aware of the illegal undertakings at USC. Carroll said they were "not aware of any of these findings" and the NCAA infractions committee had an agenda that took them "beyond the facts" of the case.

Pete Carroll's cozying up with Snoop Dogg, a thuggish rapper (but I repeat myself) showed his lack of class.
Why thank you very much. I’ll be over it soon enough.
He handed the bag to Lane Kiffin!
heh heh heh
Stay away from GOP_Raider, he has mono
I kind of know how you feel. I am still trying to get over pneumonia, bronchitis and a sinus infection.
Won't you gimme three steps, gimme three steps mister
Gimme three steps towards the door.
Gimme three steps gimme three steps mister and you won't see me no more...
Yeah, Pete Carroll is shocked! The same idiot who hooted and hollered at the sight of Zero is shocked?
Hugh Hewitt is discussing the cheating thugs now, and is actually calling the sanctions unfair, probably because Carroll isn’t around to take the punishment....
The NCAA can make any ruling they feel like without much evidence. (unless they are taken to court, which happened before)
I think USC should do so.
I'm not aware of the Carol responsibility you are referring to. Could just mean you know more, so please feel free to embellish if you would.
Liar,liar, pants on fire.
Excuse me “Carroll” not Carol
...LOL~
The NCAA went way overboard here. This is the first time in over 20 years that they issued a bowl ban for a violation not involving boosters paying players.
ok
Figure USC gets out the oil, bends over and takes this ruling (if they were at least somewhat guilty)
Or
They fight the ruling in court.
If innocent, they should fight this.
If they don’t, they’re probably guilty IMO.
I don’t feel that ‘SC should have to go it alone. There has to be some accountability on Carroll’s part
If it could be proved he facilitated the problem, then in the least they should ban him for life from ever coaching college football in the USA.
That would send the proper message (if he is part of this in fact).
