I bought “Bangsite” and went broke, until I learned el cheapo CaCo2 did the same trick for pennies

Comment #15, the famous Bangsite cannon. I had one for decades and used it every July 4th. The thing worked great for 40 years or so.

carbide cannon

After caving, dump the used carbide in the Drive-in toilet and then light a cigarette....... Darwin award

The classic carbide cannon is a syrup can or paint can with snap in lid. punch a small hole in the side near the bottom. Add two or three carbide rocks some water and pound the lid on, invert and touch a match to the hole
