Obama Family Cook Named Policy Adviser
Judicial Watch ^ | 07/14/2010 | Judicial Watch

In a comical move even for a czar-happy president who has rewarded dozens of cronies with distinguished titles, the White House has named the Obama’s personal Chicago cook as “Senior Policy Adviser for Healthy Food Initiatives.”

It’s no joke, even though is sounds like a bad one. The Chicago chef’s rapid ascension, reported this week by a conservative Washington D.C. newspaper, has been kept under the radar for the last month. Sam Kass went from being a 20-something, Windy City gourmet cook—privately paid by the Obama’s to feed them—to big-time White House adviser in a matter of months.

In between, Michelle Obama made Kass a “Food Initiative Coordinator” for her new healthy nutrition program which is supposed to eliminate childhood obesity within a generation, especially in the nation’s inner cities. The First Lady claims that childhood obesity is a threat to national security and a crisis equivalent to AIDS and youth violence.

Because it’s such a dire situation, she has convinced her husband’s administration to spend $400 million a year to bring “healthy foods” to low-income neighborhoods and $10 billion to revise a decades-old federal measure that already feeds tens of millions of poor children at school for free.

This culinary revolution no doubt requires a trusted senior policy adviser—like Kass—who is an expert in healthy cuisine. The First Lady refers to her cook as a “partner in crime” and says it’s “just pretty powerful” to see what started out as talk in her South Side Chicago kitchen turn into a major initiative that “hopefully will change the way we think as a country.”

Makes you wonder what Kass, who also doubles as a White House chef, has been putting in the Obama’s food all these years. Incidentally, the “most transparent administration” in history doesn’t want Americans to know how much the famous family cook earns. Although he’s an important administration wonk, Kass’s salary is excluded in the Annual Report to Congress on White House Staff because he’s considered “residence staff” and those salaries don’t need to be disclosed.

The government should NEVER be allowed to mandate what we may eat, and how much we are allowed to weigh!!!!

Once Obamacare kicks in they will try to justify even more food regulations -IMO

After Ronald McDonald, the Campbell Soup kids, Colonel Sanders and the rest of the reactionary dietary criminals are convicted in show trials and moved to re-education camps, the Regime institutes the internationally acclaimed North Korean rapid weight loss diet as mandatory for the prols./sarc

Kass was the Obamas’ personal chef who launched his home-cooking business, Inevitable Table, from his Pilsen residence, in 2007. He also volunteered last year as a chef at the Jane Addams Hull House Museum “Re-thinking Soup” project.

He is part of a University of Chicago network that takes in the Obamas and many of their close friends and associates — some, like Kass, who ended up in Washington.

Kass attended the U. of C. Lab School for high school and some of his elementary years. His father, Robert, a fifth-grade teacher at Lab, taught Malia Obama last year. His mother, Valentine, who lives in Alexandria, Va., is a science educator at the National Science Foundation who, while at the Museum of Science and Industry, was the director of Omnimax productions and programs.

White House senior adviser Valerie Jarrett knows Robert Kass from her days when she served on the Lab School board. Susan Sher, Mrs. Obama’s chief of staff, is a past chairwoman of that board.

Karen Duncan, the wife of Education Secretary Arne Duncan, is a former Lab School athletic director who is now working with Kass on encouraging schools to serve healthy school lunches.

It is clearly time to bring back the “Amos and Andy Show,” so that we will know what our “Grand Potentate of the Universe” is really up to at the White House “Mystic Knights of the Sea Lodge.” Check and double check.

This is way under reported, MSM reports Michelle Obamas health initiatives as helping kids, Not the price tag to fund it. I thought I read awhile back that she was bored and wanted to be more involved - now she has a project.

I guess that says it all.

Wonder if this little fellow is the one who keeps insisting that the Obamas eat ice cream all the time?

And blacks think the obamas can relate to being black in America. Then again, I’m sure black racist panthers like this because they all wish they had a white boy to order around.

Let’s Move to ensure that all families have access to healthy, affordable food in their communities.

As part of the President’s proposed FY 2011 budget, the Administration announced a new program – the Healthy Food Financing Initiative — a partnership between the U.S. Departments of Treasury, Agriculture and Health and Human Services which will invest $400 million a year to provide innovative financing to bring grocery stores to underserved areas and help places such as convenience stores and bodegas carry healthier food options. Grants will also help bring farmers markets and fresh foods into underserved communities, boosting both family health and local economies. Through these initiatives and private sector engagement, the Administration will work to eliminate food deserts across the country within seven years.

This Spring, LetsMove.gov will unveil specialized tool kits and strategies to help increase access to healthy, affordable food in communities across the country
Are you in a “Food Desert”? MO wants to “help” you . . .

MS. BARNES: —and to prepare a healthy meal—meals for their student population. So, it includes issues like that. It’s received widespread support. We’re looking for additional support and additional funding for that. There’s another initiative—a big part of this—one of our important goals deals with access to healthy foods and vegetables in communities. There are some communities that are considered “food deserts,” places where people can’t get fresh, nutritious food, where there isn’t a grocery store in a mile or two within a person’s home.

MR. ALLEN: This is—this is usually inner cities, always inner cities?

MS. BARNES: It actually—it’s a—both an urban and a rural problem.

MR. ALLEN: Okay.

MS. BARNES: I think people find that really interesting when they think about rural America they think about farms and access to really—

MR. ALLEN: Mm-hmm.

MS. BARNES: —wonderful, healthy foods, but there are food deserts in rural areas, as well. What we want to do, and what the President included in his budget is an initiative to lev—use public funds to leverage even larger private dollars to put the grocery stores in communities where they don’t exist and also some really creative and innovative ways—for example, mobile grocery stores, where you’re moving those into communities where there’s not a lot of population density—

MS. BARNES: —but you want to make sure that people have access to those fresh fruits and vegetables.

MR. ALLEN: Funding—it’s not a small thing, but in addition to funding, is there anything specific you’re asking Congress to do? Are you try—trying to change any laws or just behavior?

MS. BARNES: Well, the Child Nutrition Reauthorization Bill is a key example.

Again, by providing additional resources for school breakfasts and school lunch, to make sure that they’re meeting the nutritional guidelines, reduced amounts of sugars and salt and other things, and the portions that we’re serving children at school. You know, we’ve been involved in the school lunch and breakfast program since World War II. So, that’s an area where the federal government actually has a role and has had a role for many, many decades. So, that’s an area that we think is very important and we hope Congress will act on, along with the resources for the healthy food financing initiative that I also mentioned.

“What they mean by a food desert is an urban area where there are no grocery stores left.
This is about giving more ‘free stuff’ to well-fare crowd.”

“Enticing or forcing food chains to re-open or build new stores in areas they abandoned years ago. They left because they couldn’t afford the high cost of business in these areas. Shoplifting, burglary, and armed robberies made it too expensive to have stores in these area.

The only goal of this program is to retain the ‘obama’ vote.”

“Interesting the state dinner gatecrasher will be in a new reality show on Bravo.”

Yes. I remember that there was some kind of TV crew there at the time. Is there a line between this obama administration and the pop culture entertainment industry? I don’t think so.
