In Indonesia, Malaysia, Egypt, Ethiopia, Pakistan and other third world nations with majority or large percentage Muslim populations I sadly predict burnt Christian churches, beheaded priests and raped teenagers — all done in “Allah’s name” of course.
While their leaders piously denounce the actual Quran burning, their animalistic followers are undoubtedly already gleefully sharpening their knives in anticipation. In the aftermath, the only thing the MSM will talk about is how it was “inevitable” given the “provocation”.
Rarely have the fanatics been handed what they consider a good reason for a full-scale orgy of rape and mob violence. I am sure they will make the most of it.

Imagine if every free paper in the world had published the cartoons on page 1 above the fold as a show of solidarity and refusal to be intimidated. Do you think more people would have died, or do you think that might have been a big step toward the end of Muslims telling the rest of us what we can say, write and do because of their precious sensibilities?
Burning Korans is tasteless and stupid, but you are blaming the wrong people on the toilet flush thing. The NYT (I thought it was another outlet) committed bad journalism. The lunatic Muslim savages did the killing and are solely responsible for it.
