I used to go to Lucianne.com but if you remember after 9/11 they banned Ann Coulter columns because Ann Coulter called Jonah Goldberg (Jonah’s mom runs Lucianne) a “girlyman”. I tried to post a Coulter article there and had a little disagreement with the people there and so I heard about FR from perhaps some Ann Coulter tv appearances on FNC so I came here in 2001.

Remember reading about it in one of Ann Coulter’s books, lurked for awhile, then started posting occasionally. I get physically ill if I can’t check in at least once a day.
I was part of the Florida chad and recount debacle. Was out protesting on behalf of President Bush and saw a sign that read FreeRepublic. I clicked on it and I was hooked.
I had to tell someone what a dirtbag Ben Barnes was because he was bashing Bush and making headlines. My dad had known him when I was growing up & he was a seedy character but the press wasn’t saying what they knew about him. Wonder if he and his daughter are talking again, yet?
A buddy of mine, who was a San Fernando Valley film producer, told me it was the best free porn site. He misled me, of course, but here I am. He’s still producing great porn.
Well, I was quietly, deliberately, patiently and innocently without shame, stuning my beeber in an online chat room via Netscape 1.2 one day when I accidentally Googled “zot”...and....well.....the rest is history....

I don't recall if it was Rush or a caller, but I took a quick look at FreeRepublic, and the rest is history!
FreeRepublic has literally been a God send for me. It keeps me informed in a manner that the state run media refuses to. With conservative discussion and factual information.
And the people here are pretty cool too!!
2008 election. I was frantic to find people who saw the craziness I was seeing. Ran across Free Republic and knew I had found a mental home. Thank you, Jim.
My first post was a newly worded pledge of allegiance for the Obama Nation that I made up myself. It got lukewarm reviews. I now understand that is the standard FR welcome! I now laugh when others do the same. It’s endearing.
I’m on Sunken Civ’s GGG ping list and love it. I also love talking to the old timers here. The memory wall is really special. I pray for every person who appears on a prayer request.
FR teaches me a lot. It’s become a part of my every day schedule.
Yeah, my transformation was gradual from that first George Bush State of Union address and I became a lurker here until his ‘04 election when I was so fed up by kerry and the leftists that I took the plunge and officially became a freeper.

Doing battle with some leftie on another site. When he ran out of insults he called me a “F’ing FReeper”. I had no idea what he was talking about and came to see what he was calling me.

I heard Clinton’s a Liar on a radio interview and found the link to Whitewater on Drudge in early ‘98 just as the Paula Jones story had really heated up.
Lurked behind a primative firewall at work and didn’t register for over a year and a half. Was on a chat room thingy with Yellow Rose of Texas, Two-Thirds Vote Aye, amom, Towanda and others from that era. Rose and Towanda got me to register and start posting my drivel — May of ‘99.
The Clinton era was a wild ride. Then came impeachment with its highs and lows. The YTK era, the primaries, the SoreLoserman era all issues for the internet vehicle JIm was to kind to create for us. A dozen years fly by when you have a fellowship like this one here.
I’ve seen a lot of drama, tears, joy and learned a lot. Thanks Jim needs to always be added.

Joined when my late husband, known here as 1John, saw a link from the Drudge report during the Lewinsky saga (c.1998)—and we became Freepers right then and there. Interesting times for sure!
The funniest part is that I’ve been wracking my brain trying to remember what site I was on at the time. Whatever it was is long lost, but I try to catch a bit of FR everyday.
