I've got a similar proof where 1 = -1. If my recollection is correct, it goes something like this:

1 = 1
-1 = -1
-1/1 = -1/1
-1/1 = 1/-1

Cross multiply:
1*1 = (-1)*(-1)

Take square root of both:
√[1*1] = √[(-1)*(-1)]
1 = -1
